I suppose my love of science stems from childhood when I realized that it would be extra cool to destroy my enemies with a giant laser constructed on the moon.

This is emblematic of problem-solving in the US. No one should need $200k in loans for grad school, and we need many more nurses and physician assistants, etc. This solution caps loans at $100k for most programs and at $200k for these. But this doesn’t address costs and affordability.
The negotiated rulemaking session on defining professional programs essentially just added clinical psychology to the bare minimum required by law, even though the law gives more leeway to include other programs. This will end up in court.

I’m reminded this morning of Coates’s remarks re cowardice and the Senate’s tendency to describe itself as “the greatest deliberative body in the world.”
Defending this institution is using it in moral ways, ways that can demand courage.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

I've just invented a new product that's like bubble wrap but each bubble contains a tiny portion of french onion soup. There is no market for this product and it's very difficult to manufacture. My business model is "buy it or I'll attack you"

YOLO: yummy oranges locked, organized
ASAP: apples sold and pocketed
FOMO: fennel, oyster mushrooms, oregano
