Scottish Government broke their deal with Scotland's Resident Doctors over Pay.
They have left us with no choice but to ballot.

No doctor wants to be on strike but a government that breaks its promises cannot go unchallenged.

Doctors aren't worth 17% less than 2008... 🧵

Today, @tomdolphin.bsky.social and @redrunswick.bsky.social have written to NHS leaders to ensure the derogations system is used properly during strike action 👇

I know that your policy conference have decided to review your financial relationship with Labour...
here is the leader of the supposed political branch of organised labour encouraging @bma.org.uk members to cross our picket lines.

Keir Starmer: Junior doctors should break ranks with the BMA leadership
The industrial action that starts on Friday is in no one’s interests and medics should not follow their union down its dangerous and destructive route, he says

This came up at a conference I was at on Friday, and I was curious if other think about this similarly.

I view keeping to my assigned time in presentations as an embodiment of my feminist values at work. There is a set amount of total time and going over takes time away from ~someone~ else.

At the American Shakespeare Center’s Blackfriars Conference, if you run over your time, you are literally forced to exit, pursued by a bear.

The bear can and will take your paper from you to shut you up.
I could not tell you how often I have done readings with male writers who go way over the allotted time limit, biting into other people's reading time or making the event last way longer than it was supposed to.

But the worst ones are the ones who go: "I'll just read until someone stops me."
Ending on time is a feminist act.

It is however nuts that for literally the most predictable NHS crisis we still rely on the luck of the disease draw (and the weather) every winter.

@paulmainwood.bsky.social put it brilliantly a few weeks ago in his substack (which I recommend). 5/6

Actually no, at no point did any doctor or nurse agree to have the state/their employer "audit" personal electronic devices

Being a healthcare professional does not abrogate the ECHR Article 8 right to privacy
I know what I’ll be saying if “the hospital” tries to check my personal phone

Men do not "help", they also do not babysit.
They adult appropriately plus they partner and/or co-parent.
Anything else is unacceptable.
If there's a baby in the house and he's not the birthing parent then he does most of the chores, not half of them, thats 50:50.
Nah lady, you don't need your husband to help you. That's ridiculous. What you need is for you to do his fair share.

Will happily take a work-provided smart phone with the same capabilities as my personal one which currently offsets a huge amount of inadequate IT...

This is a systems issue that needs a solution. That solution needs to make it easy not to need to use a personal device (as well as appropriate IG)

This, fundamentally, is the problem with billionaires. It's not just how much money they have, but the fact that any one person having that kind of money constitutes a form of unaccountable power where they can just buy shit to silence voices they don't like.
In Hungary, a key Orbán tactic in dismantling their democracy was that his allies bought media outlets that were critical of the regime and turned them into loyal cheerleaders for the regime.

Those accusing the ICC of being “political” do not fully understand the law.

Post WWII, we in “the West” stipulated a set of shared rules that we believed applied to everyone - enemies, allies and ourselves.

If an ally breaches those rules, the rules have not suddenly become “political” overnight.

A great paradox of working in Infectious and Microbiology is that we beg for new antimicrobials -

but as soon as they arrive the first thing we do is to tell everyone NOT to use them.

You can see why this deters pharma from investing in them.

Literally what Starmer has left her in place for.

They could have appointed an interim chair as her contract was up. Instead, they've protected a bigot in her post for 12 months, hoping she does the dirty work so they don't have to

Whatever Faulkner does now is as a LABOUR appointment, not a Tory
Kishwer Falkner is determined to do as much damage to trans equality as she can before she leaves the EHRC (backed up by the transphobic ‘gender critical’ board member cronies)

They’re going for the scorched earth policy of attacking trans rights before they leave! 😣
The EHRC is describing itself as “Impartial” in this case going to the Supreme Court, a case that trans people have been locked out of (once again like Bell).

Surely this is perjury.
