This, right here. The best predictor of productivity is funding the damn grant.
This is great data, but IMO & IME all it shows is that once you give ppl money, they almost always turn it into papers.
On the subject of data, here is from an analysis that I did when I was at NIGMS.

This showed that there were some quite productive grants with percentile scores at or worse than the 30th percentile.

A quick formatting PSA from me to you: if you want to use full justification in your grants, turn on hyphenation to avoid weird spacing between words and make your proposal easier to read. This move will also buy you some extra real estate!

Just got an email from my SRO for the study section that was missed in October. Good news is that they are trying to reschedule ASAP (Dec/Jan). The bad news is that CSR is mandating that only the the top third (not half) of applications will get discussed for the next 2 rounds.
