this is basically a confirmation that the Miller faction is the most dominant one in the Trump administration
When the interior ministry declares its militia to be above the law in terms that equate dissent with treason there really isn’t any question of whether or not we are looking at an authoritarian regime.

they're already in the wild! you may have seen it on the news.
It’s worth considering that an overnight dismantling of ICE in 2029 would release into the wild a whole herd of specialists in violence with scant other marketable skills.

Yes. I've said it for a few months, but the admin is on this weird, one-sided accelerated timeline from where you'd think theyd be. This is, imo, 2027/28 type shit in response to a hostile congress. Its telling they see themselves so isolated now that theyre already trying to fight the whole country
Modern civil wars don't look like the American Civil War. They're more often like the Years of Lead or Argentina's Dirty War. With that in mind, I don't think it's much of an exaggeration to say Trump's regime is either trying to fight a one-sided civil war or, at a minimum, provoke one.

As always, the gulf between the bald reality of the situation and the seeming lack of urgency among Democratic leadership in Washington is crazy-making.

Hard to describe how offensive this is to Catholics. Strickland (ultra-MAGA) was asked to resign from the clergy twice and refused. He was stripped of his office. He's using the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe (the symbol of Mexican Catholicism) to celebrate Trump's cruelty to immigrants.

This is my fucking thing

you don’t have to love America the empire

but if you don’t love America, the vibrant community of incredible people doing brave shit, that’s your misplaced self-loathing talking

this is a country of amazing people and if you can’t love that you’re fucking up
how DARE you be aware of what IS going on in Mpls right now and NOT fucking love our country? Because America isn't fucking Trump. America is the Somali immigrants who came here because this is where hope lived, because America is the rope that bound them fast to what they wanted to keep

Folks in the US still like to treat the whole Greenland invasion stuff as sufficiently unserious to engage with, but it is sufficiently serious that NATO allies are actively deploying tripwire forces to deter the US. That is *already* a political and actual cost to them, and to US relationships

Not just that they're stretched thin, but that this is fundamental to America. It's too big and decentralized a place, with too many urban centers and too many POWER centers, to be cowed or pacified by this kind of crude force.
Everything going on in Minneapolis is horrific and there need to be trials and people going to prison when we can get ahold of it.

But I would also note that it is kind of a demonstration of how stretched thin the feds are that -one- moderately sized urban area requires this level of resource.

Think bigger. 24 million women in the AWS cloud. One baby per second. Five nines of availability.
One thing that would definitely work to increase the birth rate is decreasing the length of pregnancy. 9 women could work together in a team to produce a baby in one month

Meanwhile, we see in corporate America a move towards personalized rule and away from the rationalized bureaucratic management of the 20th century. Dual class shares, stockholder agreements, twitter followings, etc make CEOs look more like kings than “executive officers.”

The current politics in the United States can best be understood as a basic distinction between people who have sincere ethical and moral beliefs about the dignity of others—and are willing to act on that—and those who see the State as a tool to enact pain on enemies.

You're otherwise just LARPing.

A teenage boy was walking home in Minneapolis yesterday when four masked men jumped out of a van & questioned him - with no parent or guardian present.

He was bundled into the van & taken away.

Bystanders heard the boy say: “Can I just go home?”

I don’t know how America comes back from all this.
