This is a really great guide on making Signal more secure!
This but also read up on how to make Signal as secure as possible. Just downloading the app isn’t quite the fix, you have to mutually agree to use certain features for it to be the most impactful.
I’m still learning but plan to figure it all out tomorrow.

When the Patriot Act was passed, libraries got requests for patrons’ borrowing history. We were prohibited from disclosing those requests.
We deleted and shredded those records and stopped tracking reading history for that reason.

This is true for any function that should be filled by government. A child can tell you why a private business will always be more expensive providing a social service than a government: because government doesn't have to make a profit for its shareholders, so its costs and pricing can be lower.
Apropos of nothing: we actually don’t need for-profit publicly traded health insurance companies. They add nothing, they only siphon value away from the system and into shareholder pockets
