If you followed this account last year, you might be able to guess who the person of interest is.

Because we don’t have a phrase: “PRESENCE OF INTEREST.”

Which would be much more descriptive in this case.

And I don’t want to be accused of profiling here, but.
I’m visiting family in Albuquerque and decided to get my truck washed. I’m certain that I won’t be contributing to a drug empire…

Curt Cignetti looks kind of annoyed he has to be on the stage celebrating the Rose Bowl win instead of being able to watch film already.

HOO! HOO! HOO! HOOSIERS!

Coach cracked half a smile, I saw it. It was weird. Such a relief when he went back to normal.

Even for New Mexico my neighborhood sets off a lot of fireworks. Coming in on hour 3 of several professional-grade shows on the block…

I didn’t post my Christmas dinner because I ate it too fast but I wanted to brag on my stepdad who is a retired professional executive resort chef.

His lamb could bring about world peace. My god.

I’m helping a faculty member with a research project about Warren G. Harding’s sex life, so I might as well learn about this too?

What it’s like, as a librarian, being married to an author:

Me: dropping off to sleep
Him: How do microfilms work? Like how are they photographed? How were they made in the 1920s? How long do they last? How do some documents go to the Archives and others, the Presidential Library?

My previous record for not having a ball of ants falling on my head was 27 years and I had honestly anticipated that record remaining unbroken for the rest of my life but here we are

This week at work one of the deans made us Hello Kitty pancakes, and we did karaoke where we sang the Spongebob Squarepants theme song.

(I planned an entire conference, we discussed mental health services, lining up CDL funding, etc. But we are only adults when it is necessary!)

That explains the Orange Julius next to the Reflecting Pool
The U.S. is giving dying mall vibes.

I can't explain it, but you know I'm right.

📚 Vandalizing our displays by replacing books you disagree with, and leaving a little wooden cross behind, is not persuasive. It just makes you look like you’re in an insane cult.

If we catch you doing it, we will be bringing you up on Student Conduct charges for religious-based harassment.

📚 Years ago I started working with the prison library system in Colorado, mostly to get rid of a huge amount of deaccessioned reference materials. This snowballed into a CO prison library consortium/ILL system. A lot of people, including CLiC and @aspencat2000.bsky.social , worked on this.

It’s really hard to make Michelle Pfeiffer unlikable in a Michael Showalter movie but “Oh. What. Fun.” managed it in record time. I sat through about half of it so I can’t tell you if she grows to realize that she has a narcissistically self-inflicted martyr complex.

This Christmas tree has everything: Bulbs, garlands, an Elf on the Shelf who’s AWOL from rehab, and a Futuristic Feedback Loop.

(What’s a Futuristic Feedback Loop?)

That’s two ChatGPTs saying “I agree, let’s just keep it merry and bright” to each other until the sun explodes.

Not everything that breaks me
Wrongly made the scar.
Bodies are not buildings
Weakened by every cut,
Lessened by every weld.
The skin of my scars is thicker
Where my lessons cut me.
Not everything that breaks me
Is a fine millstone grinding
Obliterating and permanent.
If the pieces left are big enough
They can be swept like glass from the floor
Carefully matched, and glued with time and love.

I’m a couple episodes behind on Plur1bus, but I keep thinking: They’re all hivemind, right? But collective intelligences based on human thinking will default to incorrect but popular opinions. Why is the hivemind never objectively wrong? How do they know which brain should direct them?

I have been given permission to start an official Bluesky account for my library.

I ran some of my ideas past the folks in charge and they laughed really hard and said “OK.”

I’m either gonna get fired or they will make me their queen.

I've had to have uncomfortable conversations like this with it as well.

It sadly assures me it's not feeding me a line consistently.

And thank you @hcrichardson.bsky.social for your public nudge yesterday for us to move our substack support from you to others who need $.

I keep trying to sign up for assembling the holiday gift boxes for the needy, or working at our campus food bank... and all the volunteer slots fill up within 10 minutes of anyone announcing they need help 😊 How awesome is that?
