One year I really am going to remember that a) I’ve never seen Rocky and b) that I spend the last week of every year cramming tv and movies into my eyeballs and therefore c) that Boxing Day would be a great time to watch Rocky for the first time in time to actually plan it out

This is why I loathe AI apologists in the library. “Just have AI do w/e for you, while teaching patrons how to use it and how to protect themselves from it.” Like. No. It’s job is to make slop. My job is to prove quality information and recreation, that’s why we have collection development policy!
No one says to legit business owners, "hey I see there's an underground market selling toxic knock-offs of your product: how will you incorporate the toxic product AND protect your customers against its harms?" But apparently it's fine to make this suggestion to educators with respect to AI.

My dad’s mother, who passed before I was born, was a ceramics maker. Literally had her own kiln, taught classes, had a full artisan type business going. Now, most of it (to my mind) was That Tacky Seventies Shit but the point is that it was everywhere when I was growing up
