Greater Boston: "hey how about genomics? pretty neat."

I braved the supermarket today because

1. I needed a lemon for my lemon pig
2. I always enjoy getting flowers and walking across the frozen slushy mess of a parking lot in my idgaf snow gear cradling three bouquets of flowers in my elbow like Miss Crampon America

One of our Vermont library directors is retiring in 2026 and the local paper wrote such a sweet article about her that really captures her personality and mood. I will miss being colleagues with Starr LaTronica.

I love a most borrowed list! www.nypl.org/spotlight/to... NYC library users are a quirky bunch--and maybe not much in common with the NYT bestsellers list. Solidarity with my fellow thrifties who don't need to own books. 📚

We library folk do a good job talking about all the free services we offer, but I don’t see many of us talking about how libraries are one or the only places where you can use services without being advertised to.

Got to edit yet another Wikipedia page for a Republican Vermont state congressman who is resigning early (N=3 so far). I don't hate it.

I do not regret to inform you that we are going to win. (ht OT)

A delightful interview that @andrewliptak.com did with @scalzi.com when he came to VT.

"When Old Man's War took off and they were like, "you have to write more novels." And I was like, "Do I?" They're like, "yes, here's money," and I was like, "I guess I do." And then off we were to the races."
Me talking about writing and my career and how book censoring and white supremacy both suck a lot and also how I got my side gig as the DJ to the nerds
Earlier this fall I interviewed @scalzi.com at the Green Mountain Book Festival, and we spoke about his career writing and the state of science fiction in 2025.

I live in a part of the country where people go at Xmas like it's their job and good on them for trying to scrape up some joy.

It's not my holiday, but I do sponsor a kid-drawing in the newspaper's holiday section with a nice "we're in this together" message, but I do have stipulations. #grinch.

It's important to write hand-written letters to your friends when you need to send them something. Ideally while doing a bit. Maybe you're a union soldier, separated from your ladylove. Maybe a hot air balloon operator.

We mustn't let the realities of today restrain the nonsense within us.

People assume my partner "does computers" for a job b/c I do. He has a job title that's confusing, but I tell people that he mostly "does spreadsheets."

I can only hope that the reason "librarian" is not on this list is b/c they are afraid of us. As they should be.

Solidarity with everyone who does the professional work on this list. An injury to one is an injury to all and we will fight for you ✊

(repost from before where I left off the word NOT)
Anyone see a problem here? Speaking as a teacher with a master’s degree, I’m insulted.
