Vermont librarian. Technology hobbyist. I love the post office. Fix your hearts. Live in hope if you can.
Do you need a note from a librarian that says you are a real researcher? Barring that, do you need me to fight someone for you?

Oh shit it all makes sense now. (I've loved both of those songs forever)

Thank you for this news and this message. I'm talking to a bunch of media librarians who have been distressed and concerned about *waves hands* and I am teaching them this line, along with the "I do not regret to inform you" intro. Thank you.

I sent and received email by writing it on a floppy disk and walking that floppy disk to the Soroos foundation offices where they sent email to Bucharest once a day. I taught computer classes at the freedom forum library in Bucharest. They had a VAX and I taught people how to use gopher.

This was before my first and second year of library school in the mid 90s. There's a longer story involving a bit of a stunt marriage but my then-husband got a job in Transylvania and I followed him over there. We lived in one of those Soviet style high-rise buildings for a year.

JOHN HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THIS?!
November 10, 2025 at 11:52 PM
I know! I had no idea. Somebody emailed the Historical Society asking about him and I did a quick Google and was surprised. I had already been a big fan of that movie, and of course I lived in Transylvania that one year…

I have a stupid tilted uterus so I have some of the bladder capacity issues. It must be super weird not having a cervix but I can imagine just being free from that pain and headache must be wonderful.
November 10, 2025 at 11:44 PM
As a person of a certain age who has a uterus and is in HRT (so helpful!) there are days where I think I would just like to get rid of it just so I could take one fewer pill each day.

I just found out that the guy who wrote the script to Nosferatu fled the Nazis and wound up living many places but was in my tiny town in Vermont when he passed and so I'm gonna have to vote for that one.
November 10, 2025 at 11:33 PM
I use HRT patches and while I know there are a lot of entirely sensible reasons why people don't want to call that sort of thing "medicine," I do fly into a rage anytime I look at the box and see how the pharmaceutical company calls it a "system." because I'm sure that's reflected in the price.

LED technology instead of LED lights. Maybe there's DRM in there too!

Been calling my guy on the regular since he looked like he might be one of the Dem cavers. He knows my name. Now I want him to start fearing it.
November 10, 2025 at 4:54 PM
In my universe, most people have blurred backgrounds. I like your regular background but it would (imo) need a ten-minute-tidy for it to be optimal.

Dems to people in the US: Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya.

I see no bad news in this image and hope you have a wonderful birthday.
