how much water does it take to disrupt the careers of millions of people? how much water does it take to make deepfakes of underage kids? how much water does it take to exacerbate people's mental health crises? is there a good number? is there an acceptable number?

Twenty million Americans have a completely new chronic illness from a pandemic our government said was over in mid 2022, before the two highest waves even happened. And now they are ending the subsidies that allowed millions to afford healthcare. The rage I feel could birth a new galaxy.

A friend said, 'focusing on Silicon Valley isn't helping us replace it.' I disagree. Wars require maps and knowledge of your enemy's methods and plans. Focus on SV, treated as the foundation of a battle plan, is essential.

Cheap delivery is not an adequate replacement for a physical store.

Grocery stores provide a range of services, not just food. And that’s assuming online delivery provides sufficient access to food. And there is no reason that poor consumers should be captured by an online-only service.
What if I told you Walmart is not the only store trying to move into low-cost delivery? And this is about Atlanta because this is about Atlanta opening a city-subsidized grocery store.

And lastly, cheap delivery is a more than adequate replacement for a physical store. This is about physical stuff!
And why should someone have to bear the cost of food delivery? Or be restricted to Walmart? And how did this become specifically about Atlanta? So many goal posts.

Anyway delivery is not an adequate replacement for a physical store in accessible proximity of where one lives.

We joke about the Torment Nexus and all that, but...

The truth is science fiction warned us endlessly not to let fear control us.

"Fear is the mind killer"
"Fear is a path to the Dark Side"
etc.

Silicon Valley claimed to love SF, then built a machine to amplify fear as a means to control people.

Without human thought, what possible reason do we have to live?

We have to talk about how much of our lives is inundated by scams, paving the way for this to flourish. A feature of poorly regulated capitalism has been to legitimize scams into every area of life and transfer the burden of discerning legitimacy - "doing your own research" - to individuals alone.
Literally all I’m saying is that if you admit we are in a cesspool of disinformation/misinformation and propaganda, then you should be willing to admit that there are people who are being impacted by it and maybe the problems we have go beyond “personal responsibility” for info consumption

Right now, a stack of bills aimed at reining in AI companies and big tech sits on Gavin Newsom's desk in California. These are the bills Silicon Valley and the GOP tried to ban outright. Now they await Newsom's signature—or veto.
We're about to find out if Silicon Valley owns Gavin Newsom
A guide to the AI and tech bills that have passed the California legislature, and await the governor's signature — or veto.

When people criminalize homelessness, or pass anti-camping laws, they are saying that they want homeless people to die. They don't want to know that they are the ones doing it, but that's the only difference between them and Brian Kilmeade, because they ultimately want the same outcome.

Let me be the one to say it plain and clear. America is not intelligent or self-sufficient enough as a nation to be isolationist. American exceptionalism is a dangerous delusion. Like an Icarus level delusion. And it's so deep too many folks don't realize the wings already burned & we're plummeting.

The young people who would have been most likely to lead the domestic anti-fascist fight in 2025 were repeatedly arrested, beat, jailed, mocked by elites and non-elites over the past 5 years. This was bipartisan. I find it interesting whenever some people ask 'where the young people are' now.

As always, the proof that AI will have no lasting impact on the arts is that it has produced nothing of value. It has been used in the creation of nothing of value.

It has nothing to offer the pursuit of beauty and understanding.
