You can’t convince me there’s a better male performance than Josh O’Connor in The Mastermind this year.

Gotta say it's mindblowing to me that the Brown shooter is still at large and they don't even seem to have identified who they're looking for.

A short thread on the extremely successful, victorious protest of hundreds of people in NYC today that kept ICE vans stuck in the garage instead of kidnapping people along Canal St.
The vibe shift today is, I think, due to the fact that New Yorkers were on the offensive instead of the defensive.

Usually with protests, demonstrators have to defend the space, defend their right to march, etc. They get beat up and pushed around and antagonized into chaos and trauma.

You can frame things however you want. Unless we retake Congress it’s moot within a few days.

Really understood the people in my social media circle not voting in today’s high profile Mayoral race.

Sometimes you don’t have to pick the lesser of two real evils. Sometimes you can just say fuck them all and wash your hands of it.

This is one of my very favorites from Sherald’s exhibition (which was at the Whitney earlier this year)
Good morning, Bluesky.

It’s so blah out that I’m going to share a photo from the magnificent Amy Sherald show that opened yesterday at the BMA, a painting whose title was inspired by the Baltimore poet Lucille Clifton.
(Listen, you a wonder. You a city of a woman. You got a geography of your own.)

I honestly have no idea how I would vote. Mamdani’s antisemitic, Cuomo loathsome and Sliwa insane.
Uh, I'm not sure how Mamdani got into this discussion, but I'm with Bill Kristol: If I were a New Yorker and my choices were Mamdani, Sliwa, and Cuomo, I'd take a chance on Mamdani any day.
But that's NYC. Moving left is not going to win for Dems. (Spanberger and others know this)

Say that to the New Deal and LBJ.
This is an incredibly bad faith way to respond to my point about the southern majority. I think we can all agree that the control of the south is based on minoritarian control, racial minority control, and the party name is irrelevant to this endeavor. A house of DINOs is not "a majority."
The Democratic majority persisted across the country into the late 1990s, but I forgot for a moment that everything is racism

I will vote for any candidate who promises to put every single ICE agent in jail
I'm shaking almost too hard to type. I entered SLC airport and heard screams and cries for help. I could see people gathered around, watching. I sped over to discover this woman face down on the floor, four grown men pushing her down, while she cried "HELP ME" and pled for her child.

I do not use cocaine. Obviously my vice of choice is roast beef sandwiches, and they honestly may take a comparable amount of time off of my life.
LOVE this tour of North Shore Beef places (my cultural heritage) with @joshgondelman.bsky.social for WGBH. I don't know if cocaine gives you munchies like pot does, but based on Josh's performance, it must.

Also I'm only slightly offended I wasn't invited (for the beef)

He’s also just lying. He referred to it using its Nazi term for some time.
People aren’t outraged because of the “establishment.” We’re outraged because Platner had a Nazi tattoo.

Take clear responsibility and acknowledge the harm without all these caveats. But this isn’t it.
Years ago I got a skull and crossbones tattoo with my buddies in the Marines.

I was appalled to learn it closely resembled a Nazi symbol. I altered it yesterday, into something that isn't deeply offensive to my core beliefs.

It feels like an inverse response to Trumpism. Cling to the worst qualities of an obviously flawed candidate to own the opposition.
one of the interesting thing i have seen in the platner discourse is a refusal to confront a thing on its own terms. to his pundit supporters, platner isn’t a novice candidate with perhaps questionable judgment to be evaluated on his ability to win, but a symbol to wield against rivals

Pritzker can't say he's fighting the good fight and that we're in this perilous moment, but then allow his state police to do this to protesters. He wants it both ways, but he can't have it both ways and be credible. This is a fight against the federal gov't, but it's also against the police state.

Most of the power authoritarians have is freely given. We should not comply with them in advance.

Trump is far weaker than he looks. So is the GOP. We should draw them out, drain them at every opportunity, and fight for people’s wellbeing at every turn.

We have been sent here to fight for people.
AOC: I think there's two things that are happening at once: One, there absolutely is an unprecedented abuse of power, destruction of norms, erosion of our government and our democracy in order to prop up an authoritarian style of governance

However, they are weaker than they look…
