Guest who follows me on Insta summed up my brand: “You have cute dogs, delicious food content, excellent politics, and an amazing kitchen, what’s not to like?”

Truly one of my fave sounds: the twin teens talking and laughing together even though I said go to bed an hour ago.

An area where it feels like the general public and actual doctors wildly diverge is: doctors don't take tamiflu or seek it out for their families (mostly due to side effects and minimal benefit), but the average person thinks tamiflu is a magical flu cure.

The whole "Grok admits" "Grok apologizes" thing reminds me of the famous IBM presentation quote that evidently everyone has forgotten. And I do think representing your brand on social media counts as a "management decision".

My FIL and MIL have def been on a trip there (not recently). Once, on a different visit to Eureka Springs, AR, Jon did not allow me to accompany his parents to the creationist museum there because he feared the things I would say on the tour. I had already mocked the Jesus statue enough.
Measles may have been spread at a Noah’s Ark-themed creationist museum in Kentucky earlier this week, the state’s health authority said.

I don’t think there are “harmless” ways to use the evil AI machine billionaires are shoving into everything for evil purposes, actually. There are cases where the benefits may exceed the harms, but anything that further enriches the tech oligarchs is not “harmless.”

Just saw someone posting in surprise that rightwing evangelicals don't think Mormons are "real Christians." Yeah, guys. They'll make common political cause with them, but evangelicals think Mormonism is "a cult" and they think Catholics "worship idols."

Everyone talks about the unreasonable standards of thinness depicted by the stars of Wicked, which is valid, but I also need to know if others find Ariana Grande’s false eyelashes so ridiculous as to be a distraction throughout the film.

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing.

You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics.

That is all.

Happy New Year, friends! I have some ~personal news~, which is that the Bluesky team is generously giving me some contract work (which could possibly turn into a job) welcoming more indie media and local govt to Bsky and supporting those already here.

Excited to take my amateur Bsky boosterism pro!

Decided to kick off the new year with a tiny closet purge. Tried on ALL of my pants, pulled out all that didn’t fit because my body has changed this year, and pants that don’t fit right make me grumpy. Also pulled out a few items that just don’t get worn.

I've got at least one pair of $600+ boots-- my mom gave me a pair of Lucchesse cowboy boots that used to belong to her friend. I've also got like 4 pairs of Fryes that can be almost that expensive-- I think buying handmade goods that last is perfectly consistent with socialism.
