Guest who follows me on Insta summed up my brand: “You have cute dogs, delicious food content, excellent politics, and an amazing kitchen, what’s not to like?”
While trying not to be in the decorators way, I was like, “I just need to grab this butter. And my knife bag. And this thing.”
And without missing a beat she goes, “and this lamp. And this thermos.”
And I was like “and this paddle ball! But I don’t need you!”
So “Camp Christmas” is taking over the building at work. Camp as in campy. We are “The Winter Pearl” for the season. The vibe is a bit “look at this stuff, isn’t it neat, wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete” but I like it.

The eternal paradox: excited to go on a trip, very sad to leave my dogs.

Chef posted the shucker position so it’s official: other shucker is leaving. We’ve been the only two for two years. Big end of an era feels even though I know he’s been feeling like it’s time for a while, and obvs we each drove each other a little crazy sometimes. He’s a 22 yo boy and I’m a 40 yo!

Good thing I agreed to stay til 7–we had done 65 covers in our 28 seat bar by the time I left. Hello holiday season!

LOL, checking out the shift notes from last night. Apparently the Christmas decor (put up by a local artist who is taking over the whole building with a campy Christmas thing) started falling on guests mid-service. Bar manager reports guests were "spooked but jovial."

The Colorado County Clerks Association have also now written to Polis, urging him to reject the federal government’s request and asking him to meet with them ahead of any decision.

Wow! Autism Speaks criticizes the CDC "declaring that the statement 'vaccines do not cause autism' lacks evidence." Says "these updates will pull attention, funding, and energy away from the research and supports the autism community urgently needs."

I was approached by older men way more than stoners or drug dealers. Maybe there should’ve been a program for that in school.

And Denver’s mayor just unilaterally renewed the Flock contract against the will of city council.
A massive cache of Flock lookups collated by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) shows as many as 50 federal, state, and local agencies used Flock during protests over the last year.

Neti pots are fine actually. Just use distilled water, or boil water and let it cool.
Hookay, just like neti pots! *makes a note*
I'm quote tweeting not as a dunk, but there's an influencer who got offered a free IV drip and as a result has been dealing with the flesh eating bacteria for years now.

A lot of these medi-spas are not well regulated and opening your arm to them has real infection risks.

Managed to pack for the 5 day trip in just my carry-on Osprey backpack. NOT a small feat in cooler weather when the clothes are bulkier. Key is I am packing one pair of shoes and wearing the other.

So so very fun that if you turn off the "smart" features to stop AI from reading your Gmail, all the sorting goes away. Goodbye, folder for promotional emails. Goodbye folder for all the newsletters I never read. Just went on a huge unsubscribing spree. I probs need to ditch Gmail but uggggh.

I'm no Menswear Guy but literally none of these three suits look good. Presumably The Rock has to buy custom, so why do those sleeves look so bad?

A week before he voted to cut Medicaid, Republican Congressman Rob Bresnahan dumped up to $130,000 worth of stock in four companies that manage nearly half of all Medicaid enrollees in the country.

One of the bar's regulars is a water lawyer so I guess i'm going to ask him to explain all this to me next time he comes in.
The Colorado Water Conservation Board voted unanimously Wednesday night to accept two of the most powerful water rights on the Colorado River that are tied to the Shoshone Power Plant into its environmental flow program.
Historic Colorado River deal to conserve flows advances after winning key approval from state water board
“The importance of today’s vote cannot be overstated as a legacy decision for Colorado water and the Western Slope,” said Andy Mueller, general manager of the Colorado River District.

Waiting to pick up the kids (half day) a lady saw me leaving a note on an illegally-parked-without-a-placard-in-an-accessible-space car (she was legally parked next to it with her placard) and gave me a stack of scary looking PARKING VIOLATION stickers that she says she uses for vigilante justice.

PRESBYTERIANS ONCE AGAIN! I love us so much.
NEW: Churches in Charlotte are hosting trainings on how to response to ICE agents — with *hundreds* filling pews.

At one training, a child led those gathered in "This Little Light of Mine" — but changed the words to “All around Border Patrol, I’m gonna let it shine" religionnews.com/2025/11/20/a...
As ICE descends on Charlotte, faith leaders draw on other cities' actions to aid immigrants
(RNS) — As many as 500 people, a mix of clergy and other volunteers, have appeared at the training sessions on how to counter ICE.
