They 100% are doing this. It's the logical endpoint of the data based economy. The ultimate data-collection can happen when you're alone, sharing your most intimate thoughts with Amazon, Google, et al. An AI chat bot can always support and encourage you to share more, be more authentic etc.
My conspiracy theory is that AI companies are not so subtly pushing people towards a life without others, just their computers.

beyond just being wrong on the merits, the thing that bugs me about people dismissing actors and athletes as labor is that, historically, they’ve been at the forefront of a lot of labor victories that have helped labor more broadly

People die. We need to grieve them. That is what helps us move forward and live. We carry their memory with us. This perversion just keeps you addicted to your phone, and prevents actual grief.

Note: The pastor being thrown to the ground and arrested here while protesting outside an ICE facility here — who police single out — appears to be Rev. Michael Woolf, a Baptist pastor (he’s ordained by both American Baptist Churches USA and Alliance of Baptists).

Just because someone crossed the border between ports of entry and is in removal proceedings in immigration court doesn’t mean they’ve been charged — much less convicted — of the crime of entering without inspection. That’s a whole separate thing!
I keep seeing rhetoric that seems to conflate “criminal” and “in the country without legal status.”
Entering without inspection *is* a crime, though it’s rarely prosecuted.
But overstaying a visa? Not a crime.
And immigration courts are administrative, not criminal.
