NEW: beginning january 1, chicago will ban unhoused people on the sex offense registry from seeking shelter on public transit.

it’s the latest in a concerted effort by mayor johnson’s admin to criminalize homelessness on cta trains + buses and in public parks during the coldest months of the year.

three months after governor j.b. pritzker formed the illinois accountability commission, the panel has just released a public form to collect evidence of "misconduct by federal agents." a draft report is due by 1/30.

a press release notes submissions are subject to foia.

important to keep in mind:

On Friday, January 9, ICE arrested a member of our union, the Minnesota Newspaper and Communications Guild, as part of Operation Metro Surge.

He has been transferred to a detention facility in Texas, where he is awaiting action on his petition for habeas corpus.

It's really important that members of the public understand that anything they report to AGs or any other entity that is not their personal attorney, in order to try to hold ICE, etc. accountable

Could be given to Kash Patel and Pam Bondi and/or local police and prosecutors.
AGs have a lot of resources and are in a position to sue the federal government

But they do not represent individuals who are harmed by federal authorities

They also 1) prosecute crimes and 2) hand off information they collect to a) county and b) federal investigators and prosecutors
The Minnesota Attorney General's Office is asking residents to share information about the actions of federal agents in Minnesota, including those from the Department of Homeland Security, that have affected them or someone close to them.

Another thing we saw in Chicago. They terrorize neighborhoods but pretend no one actually lives there. A man in my neighborhood just happened to be coming home during a CBP kidnapping and ended up with six broken ribs.
The 6-month-old that DHS is tweeting about here lived in the neighborhood and the baby’s father was just trying to evacuate his family after federal agents had shot someone.

In April 2024, Spotify implemented a new scheme: songs with less than 1k streams per year would no longer receive royalties.

The data for 2025 was just released via Luminate, and 88% of songs have been demonetized.

The problem, of course, is that one of our two political parties has organized itself around a world of “alternative facts” in which the meaning of words and independently-verifiable evidence are irrelevant. If J6 can be a “day of love,” then lots of swearing at Bovino can be an Insurrection.
The Insurrection Act does require an actual insurrection. The violence in Minneapolis is almost exclusively one-sided. People yelling at you, calling you names, and recording you on a cell phone isn’t violence. And if the courts let Trump say it is, we’re in a lot of trouble.

🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

So ~1 week after they killed Renee Good, ICE chased a man, shot and injured him reportedly through the door of a home, then blanketed a majority Black neighborhood in a tremendous amount of chemical weapons and flash grenades in the middle of the night. That's where we're at.

Doomerism is a fear-based excuse to do nothing. You don't have to do anything grand, but do something, if for no other reason than you'll feel better.

"But I'm exhausted."

Real activists def need to be careful about burn out. If that isn't you, I guarantee you'll be *less* tired if you do *more*
Fuck off with your posturing doomerism. Go live in the woods if you don’t think anything matters.

Lewiston, ME is also an interesting choice because this is where Blood Tribe leader Chris Pohlhaus and members of other neo-Nazi groups went to harass brown and Black people they assumed were migrants. Now essentially, DHS agents are going to do the same thing but with state power.
