NEW: beginning january 1, chicago will ban unhoused people on the sex offense registry from seeking shelter on public transit.

it’s the latest in a concerted effort by mayor johnson’s admin to criminalize homelessness on cta trains + buses and in public parks during the coldest months of the year.

This is simultaneously 1) pathetic and anti-teen and 2) nothing more than a reiteration of existing ordinance/notice of enforcement.

Despite the phrasing here, the mayor cannot simply set a curfew.
Mayor Brandon Johnson has set a New Year’s Eve curfew for young people under 18 who head downtown without adult supervision for the city’s nationally televised festivities.

I spent last weekend at AmericaFest which was bizarre as hell. The infighting was popcorn but it does suck to see that TPUSA is not going away any time soon. They announced new affiliates, events and a new AZ-focused PAC + they are working with red state officials to force the org. in more schools.
NEW from @azrww.bsky.social: We wondered what Turning Point would look like after Charlie Kirk's murder. At this year's AmericaFest, his friends, colleagues & wife are making hay on his grave while bickering over which racists are too racist for polite company in front of neo-Nazi attendees.
“Why Do You Idolize a Man Who Was Racist?” Dispatch From AmericaFest 2025 | Left Coast Right Watch
With Charlie Kirk dead, this year’s AmericaFest quickly devolved into conservative in-fighting about whether it’s fine to hang out with open neo-Nazis.

As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

"The increased policing presence runs counter to reality—crimes on the CTA are down 5% in 2025 and more than 10% since 2022...it’s a response to people’s perception of safety, driven largely by riders forced to confront the reality...neighbors lack shelter during the coldest months of the year."

Supporters of the gunshot detection system said it helped officers save lives when shootings were not reported to emergency services. ShotSpotter was never used to dispatch paramedics.

A small (personal) example of this book’s intellectual dishonesty:

My father-in-law is reading In Covid’s Wake, and excitedly told me he found a passage where I’m quoted. The quote in question is me saying the FBI worked to censor speech on social media.

Huh? When did I say that?!

A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.

When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.

This is outrageous.
