I know artists in general get super weird about numbers more than any other group of people I follow; a lot of them are like "but my following" like that matters, but the only reason to care about numbers is if you can monetize it. otherwise, it literally does not matter. the numbers do not matter.

And here is an unpopular opinion, but maybe if students were shown how to write essays, rather than expected to know, they would be less tempted to use GenAI. For certain faculty & def for uni admin, GenAI solves the problem so to speak bc for them, prompt engineering is the "future."

Facebook lied about video view counts to pump up numbers. I think if people are using instagram, they're not actually getting accurate numbers--similar to how people are not getting actual engagement on twitter.

What do I mean by this ... For example: HRT and our other gender-affirming care saves our lives. There's FUCKTONS of support behind this, no matter how you look at it. I say this as a longtime psychiatric journalist, who's extremely cynical about a lot. The data here truly is remarkably clear.

Idea Guys have never put one iota of critical thought into their ideas. Their first one is their best one and they get REAL mad when you suggest maybe their idea isn’t the best for the project.

I recently saw someone refer to “kill your darlings” as meaning to literally kill your characters in the narrative.

Growing up no one told us just how long 30-85 years is, versus how short 1-29 years is.
Childhood will never be the best part of life, you'll have to re-learn everything in your 20's anyway. Seeing all the thriving 50-80 year olds around me is a reminder that life has only just started for me

I have a longstanding theory that the “classiness” associated with rich people is a vestigial cultural artifact from the aristocracy, and the modern version is mostly people who make like 200-300k a year. With absolutely no expertise in Tarantino and lots of expertise in film bros, my theory has always been that he wasn’t the movie guru of that video store: one of his co-workers was and he has been coasting on regurgitating that guy’s taste for decades but he ran out ten, fifteen years ago.
