tick tock, here we go

curious how many R defections there will be on the actual floor vote, I'm sure the white house wants johnson to whip against it but I don't think he will - it's going to pass and nobody in a purple district wants ads running against them using this vote
Rep. Adelita Grijalva has officially signed the discharge petition to force a vote on the Massie-Khanna bill to release the Epstein files. That's 218, meaning House GOP leaders cannot block it from the floor. (That's 214 Dems + Massie, MTG, Mace, Boebert.)

JUST IN: Katie Wilson significantly extends her lead in the Seattle mayoral race.

She now leads Mayor Bruce Harrell by 1,346 votes, or 0.5%.

That's up from the squeaker-lead of 91 votes in yesterday's update). She won today's batch of nearly 6K ballots by 20% (!).

Not much left at this point.

Everything else he said aside (all good things), it is insane that a member of the lower house represents 800,000+ people. A century ago it was less than 250,000.
Jeffries: "It's unbelievable that for 7 plus weeks Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva has been denied the ability to serve more than 800,000 people in Arizona because Republicans are running a pedophile protection program."

Apropos of nothing in particular: SHOES

Per the FEMA training I took 30 years ago, the one thing that best ensures your survival in a disaster is whether you made it out of the building with shoes on.

Everything else can just be scrap-wraps, but shoes are high-tech. Put them on first, then run.

Wild situation - my spouse's employer used to subsidize their grandfathered senior staff health plans but are ending that. Although overall premiums paid by their employer are going up by 18%, newer staff (like us) just saw our premium cut in half.

Trickle up subsidies were costing us $5000.
Day two of seeing y'all's before and after health insurance premiums is really making me despondent. We all deserve so much better.
