Not gonna lie, I thought the youth cared a lot more about climate and Palestine. This is pretty shocking to me.

Happy Boxing Day, friends
⚛️⚡️ Over the last 24 hours, enough nuclear energy was available to supply 115% of overall electricity demand in northern Illinois.

⏰ Nuclear plants could meet all electricity demand 96% of the last 24 hours.

One mine in New York is capable of producing ~half of all graphite consumed in America. I am a proud shareholder.

Amid a battery boom, graphite mining gets a fresh look in the US
Mining the ubiquitous mineral found in everything from nuclear reactors to pencils seemed to make little sense when it could be imported inexpensively from other nations, especially China. Demand for...

The Wisconsin component of the analysis here is revealing. Evidence is consistent with DOGE strategically delaying contract terminations in WI until after the 2025 state Supreme Court elections to mitigate electoral risk.

Tbh, I really liked Avatar 2. Unexpectedly emotional movie. And technically astounding.

It’s so funny that the Disney+ version of Avatar deleted the scene where they clasp with their usb ports

The US economy and stock market turned out to be more resilient to the drastic and unprecedented federal policies than I thought. Left too much in cash / bonds and didn’t dollar cost average.
I don’t give a shit about your accomplishments this year. What’s the dumbest shit you did the past 12 months? The truly stupidest decision you made in 2025?
December 25, 2025 at 3:39 AM
The administrative cost of traditional Medicare is ~1%.

For private insurance the median is over 11%.

Next Christmas I want Medicare for all.

It's funny IMO that Berkeley, California was one of very first jurisdictions to ban straws/plastic bags -- you know, for the environment --

But soon as we learned the actual leading source of plastic pollution?

One of the biggest microplastic pollution sources isn’t straws or grocery bags – it’s your tires
Every few years, the tires on your car wear thin and need to be replaced. But where does that lost tire material go? The answer, unfortunately, is often waterways, where the tiny microplastic particle...

Medium hot take: Low key kinda sucks how the center of gravity for office space has moved to West Loop. The transit connectivity to Chicagoland is considerably worse than the Loop. Add up the increased commute time every day and it is material.
