Cheap and abundant power, water, housing, quality schools, and streamlined regs on spinning up your biz or moving it here are the way forward for a Chicago MSA that is burdened with debt and has been losing pop.
FINALLY. Pritzker is proposing:
-Boosting housing options by eliminating excessive local regulations on multifamily homes, ADUs, etc
-Immediately start planning new nuclear construction by 2033
-BANNING PHONES IN SCHOOLS

This is an agenda that prioritizes the next generation.

JB Pritzker is explaining parking reform in his state of the state address. Donald Shoup would be so happy right now

It’s time for city council to make more moves to increase housing supply otherwise the state might do it for them (kinda embarrassing but necessary)

"Nationwide, the amount of income needed to buy the median-priced home dropped by 4% during the year. That is, [housing] affordability grew by 4%. There's a gap of 7.5 percentage points between the nation's gain in [housing] affordability and Chicago's loss." www.chicagobusiness.com/residential-...
Housing affordability is improving in many big cities — but not Chicago
While homebuyers in seven of the nation's 10 largest metros gained buying power in 2025, Chicago buyers' affordability shrank.

This is the messaging I want to see from enviro-oriented elected officials in urban areas.

Don’t use “the environment” to oppose housing and new residents. Use it as an opportunity to grow!
Honored to start the week off by sharing Sierra Club Illinois Chapter’s endorsement of my campaign.

It is imperative Chicago and Illinois are primed to accommodate vast numbers of climate refugees within our lifetimes.

The highest concentration of yuppies in Illinois has to be the Crate & Barrel on North/Clybourn at 9am on Sundays.

My fiancée and I were one of at least 50 yuppie couples filling out our wedding registries today. I can only imagine the GDP of this store during wedding season

Call me a carceral urbanist but I think that you should have to go to jail if you kill an entire family with your car.

Further, we should hold elderly drivers in particular responsible for the their actions because we need to create a deterrence effect to encourage people to stop driving.

I think this is a good idea. When I die, I don’t care what happens to my body. I won’t be around to complain!

But I’d prefer if my family had the option to dispose of my remains in a low-carbon, environmentally friendly way.

Controversial take, but I think people should actually follow the “no dogs on artificial turf” rule.

This is my biggest pet peeve.

Wow. Awesome to see a an expert—whose business depends on responding to trends in the housing market—make the point that less parking is a good thing.

Hope you enjoyed the cold stretch we just experienced in the eastern US—unfortunately, global warming is still happening. Earth just had its 5th warmest January on record.

Good thermodynamics reminder: energy cannot be created nor destroyed. The heat was just concentrated elsewhere last month.

Great perspective here about tall fare gates for transit. They don’t just bring in more revenue ($10 million per year in the SF Bay Area!) but also help keep stations in good condition and reduce maintenance costs.

A disruptive passenger on my brown line train just played this song at full blast on his phone speaker.

Very annoying and too vulgar for a public space. BUT…I will concede that it’s a banger and fits his demeanor quite well.

North Pond was awesome today. There were 4 different hockey games going on when my crew showed up, and we shoveled a 5th rink to play on. Random people joined us, families played around, and we had a jolly time.

Want community in the cold winter months? Get some skates and find a pond in the city.
