Primary Every Democrat
It’s exhausting to watch poll-tested, donor-beholden congressional Democrats continue to be too old, too cloistered, and too bumbling to do anything as the government burns.

New from me in @newrepublic.com: “Primary Every Democrat.”
If the current crop cannot demonstrate they care more about democracy than enjoying three-day weekends, we should flood the zone and challenge them all.

Just got this memory from 11 (!) years ago: fun fact about me is that I noticed this banner I loved had disappeared from the rafters at a GW “buff and blue scrimmage” and leveraged old twitter to become friends with the AD at the future Mr.’s alma mater to secure it a new home not the dumpster

Deportation has taken away the father I once knew and given me back a person I no longer recognize.

Resurfacing now that it’s not the weekend
Chicago—do we know of any direct organizing for holiday gifts this year? I have an extremely gently used Teamson modular play kitchen (it retails #inthesetarifftimes for $370) and I would love to find a great way to directly donate it to a toddler who would love it.

Border Patrol Agents Pose At The Bean For Apparent Photo Op
The photo op came after agents tear-gassed a Little Village street and were spotted in the area numerous times. At the Bean, one agent shouted, "Everyone say, 'Little Village!'"

No one has been more outspoken about Durbin than me but pushing this in reality means JB’s bankrolled candidate, his current lieutenant governor, then gets incumbency advantage. I’m not one who loves the field for this seat but I don’t think making the race more anti-competitive is best for IL.
Idea: Tell Durbin to retire early. www.offmessage.net/p/16-thought...

Imagine possessing both the arrogance and incompetence of Dick Durbin.
We understand how the Senate works, dude. That's the fucking problem.

I know there are a lot of idiots grifting off his name to promote bullshit New York Times opinion pages centrism but Harry Reid is rolling in his grave at this fecklessness. That man was a literal boxer and had Republicans' number.

In the aftermath of January 6, I legitimately spent a bunch of time in therapy talking about what to do with the feeling that I cared more about democracy than the sitting president of the United States and I will tell you that core feeling is still pretty unresolved!
The most demoralizing thing is knowing that we want to save democracy--are in fact working much, much harder at it--than Senate Democrats are or ever will. Genuinely the most fucking hopeless group of people on the planet.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

I’m having pts to March when I was on the subway in NYC when the news of the first shutdown cave broke. I had two cocktails angry and was convinced I was going to have to run for Senate (but also I want to make a difference in people’s lives so would like a job that actually achieves that).

Chuck Schumer’s decision making this week alone (between Mamdani and this CR debacle) should be absolutely disqualifying to leadership. I dare one rank-and-file Senate Democrat who believes this to say it out loud.
