I feel like many of you are blessed enough to have followed me on here and not a decade ago on Twitter when I leaned very hard into my GW Basketball Season Tickets Era just spotting former Sen. Mike Enzi in the stands and wondering who Mike Lonergan would yell at next.

His friends still partially hold it against me and I somehow never found a way to integrate it into my Jews and sports podcast. Very specific new gf vibe at the time to declare an extreme commitment to getting this banner that used to hang in the basketball arena where you went to school for kicks

Imagine being on a zoom with your therapist and the gritty prayer candle tumbling off the shelf and having to explain what has startled you

Because Durbin is a main character today, the copy of the Congressional Record is one I took from his office in 2009/2010. They had many extras of the resolution honoring the White Sox World Series and a friend of mine in the office opened the drawer where they kept these things and gave it to me.

It’s a commemorative ticket from last year’s Georgia-Alabama game they scam you into buying before the game really gets underway. It reminds me of my worst-ever wife-ing because we left the game early, which if you recall that game is 🙃

it's Magic Johnson in 1988 in the House gym when he opened a Pepsi distributorship in the DC-area (that's why a bunch of members of Congress are wearing matching shirts). It's an insane photo from an insane (and previously-to-my-reporting unreported) moment in Congressional history.
my fave is the Magic Johnson-signed photo of him with members of Congress in the 1980s. Byron Dorgan found it after it was described to me in the reporting of this linked piece. Josh got it signed for me and the guy who manages Magic's signings called him so confused he'd never seen the pic before.

I got it after living out my very longtime dream of seeing the Cathedral at Chartres! It's my only ever international impulse buy because our tour started late so we killed time in a stained glass shop.

we live in a three-bedroom apartment and there's this perfect nook right in this space for a desk so this room is basically the multipurpose room of "desk/office-guest bed/place where my kid gets in pjs post-bath because this bathroom has a tub."
