1. Been thinking a lot about Judith Butler’s notion of “grievability” with respect to Charlie Kirk, Gaza, Melissa Hortman and others.

It’s a way of thinking about whose lives are socially recognized as valuable and, therefore, whose deaths are publicly mourned.
The reaction to Kirk’s murder on the right is a reminder that Republicans are the most bad faith people on the face of the planet.

"I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."
– Charlie Kirk
I hope they catch the people responsible. I only hope that Laura Loomer's irresponsible and downright violent rhetoric wasn't a contributing factor to the deepening crisis of right wing extremist attacks in our country.

Youth transition has become central to the reactionary culture war because it asks the question: Will we allow children to choose to live outside the strictures of the heterosexual regime? Can they choose a biodestiny not defined by natalism?

Will we let them be more than their parents' property?

Two of my friends are dating. One lists her pronouns as "she/her", the other "she/her/hers".

I guess I know who's the possessive one in that relationship!

I've had financial institutions ask similar questions for verbal passwords as recently as last year. I give them cold war spy code answers cuz I'm cool like that, but I've been forced into using forms with actual make and model drop-down menus on older accounts
Does anyone still use their cars for security questions??

Feels very early-00s 😂

And?

Look, people (and I'm not saying Charles is in this category) if you're thirsty for the old-Twitter clout you may need to spend time on Threads someday. Me, I was on Twitter for the community and connections, and I can already feel that in place here. That's enough for me.
Threads now has 70 million signups.
