UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

It is very hard to dismiss the fact that senate democrats caving was an intentional gift to Donald Trump. He went to the Supreme Court trying to starve 42 million Americans and we all saw it. And as people fought that, they caved. They are not merely collaborators but wolves in sheep’s clothing.

It's a subsidy. You already choose the insurer on the marketplace. It's the same thing either way. What are we even talking about here?
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

so many of the worst decisions dems have made in the past decade haven’t been bad strategic thinking because they’re not even strategic as such; it’s just pure reactionary impulse, that is then backfilled with some laughable “strategic” rationalization. tiktok sale is a great example.
This makes some good points on the silliness of thinking the forced sale TikTok to an American oligarch was consistent with either liberal principles or Dem partisan interests. I don’t mind people being happy about Zohran winning as long as they’re committed to riding his ass as hard as any other politician now that he’s won. I think that’s unlikely for most but it’s the only principled way to be imo.
