Any Republican or Democrat who continues to support Palantir, takes money from them, or refuses to hold them accountable is not your friend and should not be supported.

It's kinda annoying how solar panels were hung around the neck of the left as impractical pie in the sky treehugger shit *right* up until it started outcompeting every other energy source. Then suddenly, instead of going "hey the left was correct about solar" it's no longer a "left" idea!

the "left" also broadly advocated for open access community owned gigabit fiber networks while the right coddled monopoly access to the detriment of progress and affordability for four decades

...if you say "vote blue no matter who", yet never say "let's not throw members of our own coalition under the bus", I seriously don't know what's wrong with you.

I'll end by re-upping this. dumping trans ppl is way more likely to hurt (rather than help) Dems:

...when trans ppl tell you they won't vote for Newsom, as a Democrat, your first reflex shouldn't be to berate trans ppl. if you think that way, then you are either a transphobe or a BAD COALITION PARTNER. seriously if you want Dems to win, THEN WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO ALIENATE PART OF YOUR COALITION?

...if you're a trans person who speaks out about how horrible Newsom is on trans issues, you get *flooded* with ppl telling you to "vote blue no matter who". to which I say: fuck you! would you vote for a politician who says he wants to roll back your rights? www.erininthemorning.com/p/why-transg...

it's one thing to say with regards to a general election "vote blue no matter who"

but it's a completely different thing to insist (as *lots* of Dem accounts I've personally seen are saying) that trans ppl *must* vote for Newsom when we're still several years away from presidential primaries!

Well, the thing is, Matt Yglesias is a white supremacist and he only is opposed to the Fourth Reich project insofar as he thinks they might be too incompetent to keep the global economy that pumps him cheap treats on demand going
Like this. "You must strategically abandon the specific issues that the right has rendered toxic & focus on others."

But then ... why wouldn't the right just be able to do the same thing on those other issues?

They just talk as though the public spontaneously lurched to the right on a few specific issues -- sports, restrooms. And now they just take that as a given, a fact that trans supporters must work around.

But how did that happen? Anyone? It's fucking *bizarre* they never even raise the question.

This whole fight over transgender stuff happening on X is so weird to me. The most notable thing about trans issues in the last 5 years has been the enormous, coordinated anti-trans activism campaign across the right, aided by moral cowards in the center.

But that campaign is *never mentioned*.

Sorry to get radical but I don’t think it’s my job or yours to embrace, accept, understand - and certainly not to use - the thing being sold to us as AI. I don’t like any part of it, so I won’t. I’m missing out? Good, that’s what I want. You’re worried about me missing out? That’s fuckin weird, man.

It’s so hard to have a reasonable conversation about AI, because people refuse to see the massive upsides of job elimination, higher electrical bills, hard drive shortages, poisoning black people in Memphis, and an economy where a handful of pedos with bad hair control your life

In the last 30 years usa elite has given us: dotcom bubble, great recession, housing crisis, crypto, nfts, covid, trade wars, tariffs, austerity, doge, ai evangelism
And: afghanistan, iraq, haiti, libya, syria, iran, venezuela, honduras, palestinian genocide, greenland
Plus: they're all pedos

The constant condescension about ai is another aspect of it that makes me hate it more. The assumption is you can only be against it because you don't understand it like I do. No man. I don't like voluntarily making every human enterprise dependent on a tech run by a tiny group of financial maniacs

Wow: Amnesty International official says they were sharing info with the Biden-Harris admin as soon as October 2023 that there wasn't even a "semblance" of Israel following international law.

They kept trying again and again — soon declaring Israel was committing genocide. Admin kept ignoring them.
"We see [Israeli] attacks still occurring. But we also see complete impunity."

Amnesty International USA’s Amanda Klasing tells @premthakker.bsky.social the organization warned the White House in 2023 about Israel’s non-adherence to international humanitarian law.

I think Bluesky is currently the best social media platform for keeping misinformation to a minimum, maybe because it’s not popular enough to be a target yet

Half the shit my friends, including fellow academics, share on Facebook is made up crap that they believe is real

Threads is atrocious too

I think one of the best things about Bluesky and one of the things that is going to keep it from ever becoming as big as other sites is that everyone here has a real internal mistrust and dislike of people selling us something, either literally for money or for some sort of other gain

The left tried for decades to pass green energy subsidies, passed them, the subsidies worked, and now literally the entire planet's electricity grid is going to convert to solar+battery. It just doesn't feel like "tech" because it mostly produces kinda boring blue collar jobs instead of billionaires

not to touch up people's work, and the succinctness here is great and more effective, but i think the most accurate phrasing would be "Did you peak in high school even though you were still a loser then?"

mark, i need to impress upon you that when you refer to human rights for trans people and palestinians as a “purity test”, it makes you look like a sociopath. it’s intended to belittle those for whom they are non-negotiable, but all it says is that you cannot be trusted in a coalition. consider that
