The death cult is out to sicken and kill our children and children's children. But be clear: he can't "repeal" a "scientific fact." He can only repeal our government's ability to recognize that fact. Watch the ghouls grin. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/12/c...

Oy.

Congratulations and best wishes to Eric Wilcots, incoming Interim Chancellor of the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

But note: "The Nature of Belief Systems in Mass Publics" was a chapter, not an article in a major poll sci journal.

As a grad student I was moping bc some of my diss-related results weren't "turning out." Thought I was finished. Phil Converse of blessed memory stopped by, asked why so blue. His response: You know my paper that gets so much mileage? You understand those are null results, right? Changed my life.

The SAVE Act doesn't just deal with proof of citizenship. It federalizes voter info by requiring states to submit individual voter list info upon request to Homeland Security. This allows them to integrate our voter data into their other data bases. In many states, those data lists include party ID.

Just read the SAVE Act. Two points. First, the proof of citizenship requirement is for registering, not voting. Some folks are talking as though every time one votes, one has to provide citizenship proof. No. But what folks are ignoring: SAVE federalizes voter info. (see next)

Coulda fooled me, but what do I know.

Well-trained in the ya-da-da-boo-boo style of professionalism.
I'm still SHOCKED by the obscene rise in billionaire election spending since Citizens United in the NYT piece, despite already knowing that election corruption w/ $ was profound. (Recall that BCRA fought dangerous campaign $ in *2002*)

The article data didn't have a graph, so I made one to show it.

Life will never be the same. How did I never figure out making fried wonton strips before? I loved them since I was a kid. But fresh? Oh, joy in hard times.

Well said.

Which means Bondi is wandering around with unredacted bits of file.
A Reuters photographer captured this image of a page from Pam Bondi's "burn book," which she used to counter any questions from Democratic lawmakers during an unhinged hearing today.

It looks like the DOJ monitored members of Congress’s searches of the unredacted Epstein files.

Just wow.

As an election official I’ve found that many women who took their husband’s names think that (a) that’s automatic and all women do it and (b) their new surnames are automatically updated on everything for all purposes. They are surprised when “but I got married” is not the answer.

Great!

Of course they. Because authoritarians gonna authoritarian.
CNN confirms what MSNBC reported live a few hours ago: DOJ is surveilling Dem lawmakers when they go to the DOJ to search unredacted Epstein files.
CNN: "Another photograph - these are notes AG Bondi brought to the hearing today. This shows a list of Rep. Jayapal's search history. Lawmakers are allowed to go to a DOJ facility to search unredacted files. We learned from this photo that the searches are apparently being tracked & read by the DOJ"

Yeah, Gallup, no sweat. Who needs a 90 year time series done by the same house?

Republicans are still trying to pass the SAVE Act—a bill that would make it harder to vote and disenfranchise millions of Americans. Join @redistrictingaction.org and tell your member of Congress to vote no: act.redistrictingaction.org/a/natl-saveact-cte

Hard to know where to begin to cite what is cherry picking, historically short-sighted, and just silly about this editorial. But I'm sure Bezos is happy to have it in his paper. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

“I’ve reviewed over 50 sticky toffee puddings” is an incredibly powerful way to begin a video
Likely-historic photo by NBC News of all the Epstein victims asked to raise their hands if they've not yet been asked to meet with the DOJ as Bondi testifies in foreground

Those who are less likely to have appropriate proof of citizenship (e.g. birth cert in current name; birth cert plus proof of change of name for those who changed name; naturalized papers; passport) or who haven't tracked: Less educated, women who changed name at marriage, peeps who don't travel.

I am deeply cynical, but I don't actually believe this. Speaking as an election official, if we are required by law to see proof of citizenship to allow someone in to vote we can be arrested for violating the law. It will certainly have differential effects on different groups of people [see next]

Another really snowy night here in NH, but spring is coming (sometime) so I started celeriac, parsley, sage, and rosemary seeds.

Oh, we already all saw that. They sure don't. But the education/party difference is very important too.

They think that if they pay attention to Democrats who appear in the files we'll say, oh, never mind. Clearly they don't get it.

(okey dokey)
