How did the decision to extradite former top-level parliamentarians to the US affect the trust relationship between rank-and-file members of armed groups and the #Colombian government? Check out this piece by Joakim Kreutz and @enzonussio.bsky.social in @isq-jrnl.bsky.social

My article on the Dark Side of Community Ties in American Sociological Review also became a meme.

The memes were a great conversation starter and forced students to focus on core aspects. In my view: it worked.

PS: Some memes are a bit rough due to the course topic. I hope nobody takes offense.

Another one for @meganastewart.bsky.social article on civil war as state-making

The 2021 article by @llschenoni.bsky.social on Bringing War Back In @ajpseditor.bsky.social

For @corinnebara.bsky.social article on incentives and opportunities for violent conflict in @jpeaceresearch.bsky.social, the student focused on research methods

This on @owasow.bsky.social article on Agenda Seeding in @apsrjournal.bsky.social

This is on @barbarafwalter.com seminal article on credible commitment problems in the settlement of civil war

Next is on @ninatannenwald.bsky.social classical article on the Nuclear Taboo

The above meme is based on Christian Davenport's article on state repression in the @annualreviews.bsky.social of political science.

The next on Ana Arjona's book on Rebelocracy @universitypress.cambridge.org

I used MEMES as a teaching tool:

Students designed memes to capture a core idea of the course readings.

The ensuing class discussion often led to new perspectives on the readings, plus students had fun.

The course was on State and Violence @ipz.bsky.social University of Zurich

You don’t need more ideas.

You need a better question.
