In our recent article in @jei-publication.bsky.social David Howarth and I analyse the ESM's role as backstop to the SRF. Our finding illustrates that the inclusion of the permanence of legal framework clause in the ESM's treaty reform has the potential to undermine QMV in banking union.

Vance knew what he was doing. The aim was to provoke. They succeeded. Likelihood of a ceasefire was already in the balance because Putin won't agree to one. Now they can blame the weaker party, which is what they want. Blame Ukraine and possibly Europe for the failure. Dark times

Here's another example: Switzerland has decided to join a EU-funded project to ease the movement of troops and weapons (non-EU members Norway and the UK are already on board)
