The #EU is becoming a sovereign-style borrower. Commission @ec.europa.eu borrowing will reach 1 trillion EUR by 2027. For the time after #NGEU, #SURE, and #SAFE, the Commission plans to propose a permanent debt instrument for crisis management, reports Paola Tamma @paolatamma.bsky.social

In our recent article in @jei-publication.bsky.social David Howarth and I analyse the ESM's role as backstop to the SRF. Our finding illustrates that the inclusion of the permanence of legal framework clause in the ESM's treaty reform has the potential to undermine QMV in banking union.
