NEW: Common Crawl, the massive archiver of the web, has gotten cozy with AI companies and is providing paywalled articles for training data. They’re also lying to publishers who have asked for material to be removed. “The robots are people too,” CC’s exec director told us when we asked about this.

Yes indeed. A tremendously rich but largely forgotten past. And wrongly so.
Your chapter on this made me think that African colonial troops who fought in Europe during WWI probably fraternized with Black Americans whose parents had been emancipated from slavery. It makes the later linkages between the anti-colonial independence struggles and 1960s CRM even more poignant.

Expert on ceasefire agreements writes on the threat of a strangle contract in Gaza

The Gaza ceasefire deal could be a ‘strangle contract’, with Israel holding all the cards
These types of ceasefires are highly coercive agreements that enable the more powerful party to force the weaker party to agree to whatever they want.

Gaza peace plan risks borrowing more from Tony Blair’s failures in the Middle East than his success in Northern Ireland
The former British leader was tapped to lead redevelopment efforts in Gaza if a deal is agreed upon.
