In the last chapter of Alice’s memoir, “Year of the Tiger,” she wrote her own future obituary.

The wonderful “oracle, storyteller, cyborg, trouble-maker, activist, night owl” we loved so much closed it with:

“Enjoy all of Alice’s good shit, and may you create some good shit as well.”

You were incredible, Alice Wong, and it was a blessing to have collaborated with you on projects, to have read your words and to have heard your voice, as full of life and passion and joy and rage as it was.

You made a difference—so much of a difference.

Rest always in peace, and always in power.

The Epstein list isn’t like team sports

We don’t care if it takes down Democrats

We don’t care if it takes down progressives

We don’t care if it takes down our fave celebrity

If you raped children, you must be held accountable

If you trafficked children, same

I don’t care what side you’re on

Actually I have a deep affection for the various home crafts that value women’s labor, time and care and an expression of culture and artistry.

I’ve been thinking recently about the diaspora of academia Twitter & how M’s takeover created a void of reliable information. It undermines the entire purpose of this app (to save what made Twitter special), if blackballing journos & academics becomes common practice. A really fucking stupid move.
It is disturbing that you the power @bsky.app to shut anyone off willy nilly, especially journalists. We depend on this network for our work, to communicate with others. Even losing DMs (on election day!!!) was detrimental to my ability to work.

Sarah Kendzoir is not just an important journalist and academic voice nationally, she's very important to St. Louis and the midwest. My hunch is you accidentally cancelled her account, as you cut off my DMs, but now you're too proud to admit a mistake w someone so famous and make amends.

@bsky.app last week my DMs were cut off. Moderation said I could not be trusted.

Hours later, you said it was a mistake.

Then you cut off them off again—but said it was my fault, tho wouldn't explain (before turning them back on.)

Maybe @sarahkendzior.bsky.social's ban is a mistake, too?

The number of quilt jackets that I see, and I’m like “omg so cute!” I can’t remember who but someone was talking about the Vogue cover with Gigi Hadid as appealing to a deep sense of Americana conservatism…they cannot take crafts from me.
sometimes you're shopping on etsy for nap dresses and/or besoms and don't know if your undermining the patriarchy or funding it.

The overlap in the Venn diagram between witches and trad wives is crafts and I want someone to write this essay.

I’ve said it before but news outlets worry a lot about looking biased and not enough about looking phony.

Why should people trust you if you won’t say what they can see plain as day?

Images of Donald Trump appearing to close his eyes at an Oval Office announcement this week rocketed around social media this weekend, with the president’s opponents seizing on the footage to raise questions about Trump’s on-the-job performance.

This Lynn Breedlove bit about the relationship between second-wave lesbian feminism and third-wave queer/sex-radical/sex-positive feminism is really good in how it talks about the shift in terms of generational dynamics, not just warfare.

I haven't seen people here mention this letter from the mayor of Illinois' 2nd-largest city (Aurora, 40+% Latino)

to the Aurora Police

following egregious attacks by immigration in Aurora and related protests

So here it is!

An immigrant couple is instructed to only feed their child more expensive pasteurized milk in THE ITALIAN (1915). When the husband is robbed and wrongfully imprisoned, the wife is forced to buy cheaper raw milk and the baby dies from it. This kind of social commentary was common in the 1910s.
