Reminder that Trump would've almost certainly be dealing with close fascist ally Pierre Polievre instead of sworn enemy Mark Carney as Canadian PM if he had just kept his mouth shut about annexing Canada for six months

Anyway, I stand with the people who say "ICE is anti-American" and mean it aspirationally. I consider myself a patriot because millions of people have sacrificed themselves for the promise of a true multiracial liberal democracy and I think that promise, those as of yet unrealized, is not a lie.

She apologized for ATTENDING THE GAME because ESPN put her on TV. What the fuck. No issue with how the viewers recognized her of course. No problem to be a man who watches porn but if you attend a college football game and some horny dicks recognize you then you must apologize.

The grimness of US history should encourage us. Yes, people used to send lynching postcards. And other people saw that, worked towards building a more just society anyway, and succeeded beyond anyone's wildest imagination. There's more work to be done. What's our excuse for choosing despair instead?
I understand and appreciate the fact that for some it is genuinely uncomfortable and distracting to think about how grim US history is. yes, that is strategically relevant, and no, I wouldn't put "did you know people used to send lynching photos to each other as postcards?" on a recruitment flyer

my Blackest opinion is that the presumption of conflict between "America has a long and deeply rooted history of violence" and "we can and should fight against today's version of that, as did those who came before us" is less a philosophical debate about how to treat the past and more a skill issue

The New Deal, for however flawed it was, was also a victory of American racial and working class solidarity. It is a part of the histories of the “brown, black, red, and yellow” working class peoples who had to fight for their existence here and they want to destroy this history as they deport us.

Yesterday, I drove refugees that had been shipped off to Texas all the way back home to St. Paul

Seeing them reunite with their families reminded me this is their home.

So keep sending them to Texas. I’ll keep driving ‘em back and introducing them to Bucc-ee’s and KC barbecue along the way.

He is actually and unironically a case of west wing brain and I don’t mean that as an insult at all because it means he’s geniunely principled and brave in the face of what he believes to be immoral, it’s legitimately very admirable. It just makes him sorta annoying sometimes.
Incidentally I've become negatively polarized into liking and maybe even respecting Will Stancil and I blame all of you collectively for inflicting this on me

Now he’s running his own barbecue spot in Waco: “I feel better than I ever have.”

It is sinful to work for ICE. People who work for ICE are evil.
Liam is one of four Columbia Heights, MN school district students who have been taken by ICE in the last two weeks, the school district said. Liam's teacher: “He is so kind and loving, and his classmates miss him. He ... just brightens the room. All I want is for him to be back here and safe.”
