Missouri’s age-gate law took effect earlier this week, meaning 25 US states have passed a form of age verification.

The Age-Gated Internet Is Sweeping the US. Activists Are Fighting Back
Half of the country now requires age verification to watch porn or access “harmful” content. Digital rights advocates are pushing back against legislation they say will make the internet less safe.

So the funniest thing I can think of now is that Trump decides to fire Johnson as Speaker after the holidays and February is filled up with a government shutdown because the House can't pick a Speaker and the stupid precedent they created last time says they can't pass a CR without one.
🚨 My first SCOOP for @ms.now: Mike Johnson has secretly been working to tank a provision to mandate IVF coverage for active duty service members from the Defense Reauthorization Bill—even as Trump has pledged to expand access.

Here's what to know 👇
Mike Johnson works in secret to strip IVF health coverage from defense bill
The speaker is working behind closed-doors to remove a provision from the National Defense Authorization Act that would mandate health coverage for in vitro fertilization for all active duty military.

Excellent deep-dive into the violence perpetrated by fascist Zionist thugs at UCLA. Democrats, Republicans, the ADL, and the media have spent over a year lying that the violence was an antisemitic attack on Jews, and have used it and other lies to eviscerate higher education in the US:
“That was the day that it hit: UCLA has changed forever. It marked a turning point in the militarization of campus.”

It feels flat-out _sad_ to watch elected leaders fight over a fleet fuel-efficiency bar in 2031 that my first car, a used ’89 Accord, could clear four decades prior.

Fighting progress out of bullheaded stubbornness. Just appalling.
In 2024, the Biden Administration finalized a rule requiring an industry-wide car & truck fleet fuel economy average of 50 miles per gallon for newly sold vehicles in 2031.

Now, the Trump Administration is announcing it wants to reduce that requirement to... 34.5 miles per gallon.

The problem is that this is a completely unworkable, extremely intrusive law that would require massive infrastructure buildup, so instead of trying to enforce it directly (which would be incredibly expensive, hugely unpopular, and ultimately pointless), they've essentially made it freelance and DIY
