Let me get this straight: we trained this guy to be an elite killer, abandoned his country to the Taliban, isolated him, arbitrarily banned him from working and so left his family unsupported.

I don’t know if there’s any more efficient way of producing a mental health crisis outside of torture.

Would the author say the same about building bike lanes? Installing automatic traffic cameras? Requiring Intelligent Speed Assist?

All of those are proven to save lives — and at a fraction of AVs' cost.

Illinois state officials have given rental car companies official notice that immigration enforcement agents using their vehicles are not allowed to swap the rental’s assigned license plates for other plates to disguise the vehicles, and if they do, the companies could be held liable.

What's happening with the Chicago Public Libraries right now is terrible. The proposed budget of the city would CUT 89 CPL positions. Importantly, 78 positions were lost LAST year. That would be 167 positions in 2 YEARS while COPS KEEP GETTING MORE MONEY. ENOUGH. SAY NO.

The first NYT story on the Access Hollywood tape began with Trump's apology. I don't think that was "challenging assumptions" so much as "running cover."
For my part, I would say that questioning the framing of some Times stories—for example, the highlighting of Trump’s putative emotions or the foregrounding of what he says (even when, as is often the case, what he says is false)—is not an indication that I want my “views validated.”
