Saw the movie Nuremberg last night.

Very much worth seeing. IMO especially at this moment, especially for Americans.

(Aware that reviews are positive though mixed. For me, what is strong about it outweighs what isn't.)

As the AI bubble bursts you are going to see lots of "sensible AI" guys who talk about "what AI can really do" to try and be the "smart guys in the room that can tell you the truth" so they don't have to explain why they spent years claiming LLMs were the future. can't wait

"In the extreme wing of this movement, some suggest that the way to prevent AI's harms is simply to refuse to use it," linking to a piece in the BBC that is about regular people who don't use it - fuck you for claiming that this is an extremist view!

In the three years of endless hype for this crap, I haven't used it once and I seem to be functioning as a person much better than those who are using it.
AI sits in billions of phones. Refusing to engage won't stop it, just leaves vulnerable people without knowledge. Demand ownership and control, not abstinence.
Abstinence From AI Is Not the Answer
Opinion | Refusing to use AI won’t protect society. Responsible resistance must include gaining knowledge about it.

"Criticisms of AI must include guidance for responsible engagement with it, not just exhortations to avoid it" good lord, I am so tired of these pieces that are the "sensible AI guy" stance that mostly comes down to "AI is here to stay and I am ready to lick the boot, begrudgingly"

It's a Brett Ratner movie, so it'll look more like $3 million.
Amazon paid Melania Trump $40 million to make a documentary about her life and now it is flushing more money down the toilet by advertising the documentary on X.

one of my favorite crank stock trading theories is Elliott Wave, which says that markets/stocks move in certain predictable patterns. for a bit now they've been predicting a massive, century-defining market crash. i always laughed it off but i'm starting to get concerned.

Trump is ranting and hallucinating now, before a world audience, on live TV. While our decades-long allies talk about how to protect themselves.

Anyone who sounded the way he does, RIGHT NOW, would be moved from "main" part of assisted living facility to the memory unit.

Hey GOP: just listen.

If Schumer were ONLY the party's midterm strategist--and if he managed a win--many Democrats would grit their teeth and say, I don't like him but he got us the majority. But he's also the Senator who should be mobilizing opposition re ICE and Greenland. And it is cataclysmic to fail in that duty.

One problem Democrats face is that the job of chief electoral strategist (Schumer) is increasingly incompatible with being party leader (also Schumer). Both roles matter, but if you can't use your platform as leader to say what's right because you're too into the game, you don't belong in the job. >

It's funny how he can just say this on television and becomes more popular while others are too chicken shit to do the same thing.
Mamdani: I am in support of abolishing ICE… I'm tired of waking up every day and seeing a new image of someone being dragged out of a car, dragged out of their home, dragged out of their life.
