I am here to make posts. I am ABSOLUTELY NOT here to read posts.
The good thing about America is that we've been claiming to be so many good things for so long that we can be shamed into living up to them. We can demand the rights we're supposed to have. We can condemn actions we've insisted we don't do here. The aspirations have value.
This is the kind of thinking that gets you stuck in the past. The point of America is that it can be something better than it was. We’ve done it over and over, and we’re going to keep doing it. If we can’t do it, why are we fighting?

This or just dumping people *in the woods* AND sending folks out w/o their phone or I.D.

Volunteers w/ Safe Haven wait at the gate & do sweeps of the woods, with warm clothes, a burner, and a ride home, "so no one is left alone at the gate."

I spent the evening outside the Whipple federal building in Minneapolis, where the feds have been releasing people they detained — often for no discernible reason — into the freezing cold... wearing whatever little clothing they had on at the time they were taken.

Looked at Twitter a minute ago and it looks like the general consensus among right-wing accounts on there is that they no longer think the constitution is good.

Don't worry, folks. This is just the opening point for negotiations. The end point is that they get none of these.
SCHUMER says Democrats are “united” behind three DHS reforms

1/ End roving patrols; tighten the rules on warrants and require ICE to coordinate with local authorities.

2/ Enforce accountability; a uniform code of conduct.

3/ Require masks off, body cameras on, agents carry ID.

ICE Chuds finding a smartphone gun: We gotta hide this immediately. It's simply too exonerative.
i truly cannot imagine living a life so convinced that everything is a conspiracy where innocent victims of state violence need to be demonized

Not a terrible song, but it mostly details the atrocities and describes a generic protest and does not acknowledge the discipline and organization that have characterized this particular resistance effort.
In his most direct protest song in a long career of activism, Bruce Springsteen is singing about the ICE occupation in an incendiary new tune “Streets of Minneapolis."
Bruce Springsteen releases incendiary protest song ‘Streets of Minneapolis’
He excoriates ICE and promises to remember Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.

She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.

We need to reform immigration detention.

A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

This is all starting to feel very 1st Trump term.
Genuinely interesting. Kristi Noem is snitching that Stephen Miller is the one who made up the bullshit about Alex Pretti.

It would be genuinely useful if Congress can get her to admit that he has been dictating ALL OF THIS just like he dictated the murderboats.

Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

In the past week I have hears two Trump voters here in the Twin Cities say that they "don't watch the news" and "don't really know what's been going on."

A lot of media treats Vance as they expect him, as VP, to act, not how he actually acts and speaks. At this point in his career, he’s fully steeped in online “own the libs” meme culture and temperamentally unable to express any unifying sentiments.
Much of the media is treating the vice president’s visit as an attempt to lower the temperature—if anything, he raised it.

If there were good billionaires, they would be offering ICE agents more money to do some other enticingly masculine job. Sail around in wooden ships. Blacksmithing. Cowboy. Anything where they feel tough and don't get yelled at.
