This is an amazing timeline for planning to construction of a 5.5km tramway:
Today T6 Nord tramway opened in Lyon. The project isn't very big (just 5.5 km) but the timeline is just impressive: the project was launched in 2020, 3 years for planning, design, public consultation, permitting and contracting and less than 3 years for construction.

No wonder the orange toddler is unhinged once again.

The Obamas are competent, classy, loving, Harvard and Princeton graduates, loved by many, not on the Epstein files, got the Nobel Peace Prize, and gave us a steady economy to boot.

Repost this if you agree they are AMAZING and an inspiration!

In addition to straight advocacy work I also develop brand creative - this specific example is where advocacy and brand meet - this was for a cycling magazine (hence the sport cyclist)

The question isn't whether people should wear high-viz/helmets. People should wear whatever makes them feel safer. Question is whether mandatory high-viz/helmets is good public policy - it's not

Protected lanes, safe junction design, more cyclists, and better driver behaviour are good public policy
People do wear them. Cyclists know the risks better that anyone. But again.... study after study has shown that while they may help individually in falls, as a whole they drastically discourage people from cycling, they encourage poor behaviour in motorists (who give less room because they...

Tánaiste contradicts Department of Transport, rules out mandatory helmets for bicycles, but leaves door open for “e-bikes”
Despite an official Department of Transport response outlining that all bicycles are part of a plan for mandatory helmets and high-vis, Tánaiste Simon Harris has said in the Dáil this morning that bicycles are not included, but he left the door open for electric bikes to be included. In Irish and EU law, there is no distinction between pedal bicycles and those with electric assistance, provided the assistance cuts out at 25km/h, and the maximum continuous rated power does not exceed 250W.

I guess if I ran the transport for one of the few EU countries without a rail link to the airport from the capital; without decent cycle or walking infrastructure, in a car clogged pollution nightmare, this is the kind of badly researched ill-informed nonsense I’d be expected to produce.

Is there any research into why a rural TD is pushing for hi-vis for people on bicycles but in the past has voted against drink driving law proposals? 😏 You'd wonder if such a TD like Sean Canney has any credibility at all considering his past choices.

I wear a helmet.
I wear a high viz bag cover.
I have two rear flashing red lights.
I have two foreward white lights.

While I plan to report each of them through the website, I am 99% sure nothing will be done.

That figure relates to those who sustain serious injuries each year. Not of cyclists that are involved in collisions overall. Most collisions are minor in nature.

It's also a bit of a weird and pointless stat as head injuries feature heavily from any activity and transport in serious injury stats.

Great way to push people away from cycling.

We live in a country where the goverment refuse to lower speed limits to 30km/hour and instead want to dress everyone in hi viz so motorists can drive like they want and the gov can cut funding to cycling infrastructure. Pathetic.
Helmets and hi-vis clothing to be made mandatory for e-bikes and e-scooter users
Cabinet will sign off on plans to explicitly ban the use of scramblers on roads this morning.

People will continue to cycle in the rain if you provide the infrastructure to make it safe and comfortable for them to do so. The greenery alongside cuts the risk of flooding, as well as improving the look of the street.
