I am the terror that flaps in the night. I am the bacon in the fridge for all those who cry out in hunger.

People should remember that one of the reasons Nazis are so bad at everything is because they’re Nazis. They’re ideological and part of their ideology is to purge anyone who doesn’t, and purging “undesirables”. This narrows their talent pool. They don’t - and can’t - understand this.
Well too bad we don’t have a fucking FDA to keep an eye on that. Good thing there’s not a massive storm which would preclude getting replacements.

Folks, be careful what you feed your kids. Check your containers.

Okay this type of crap? This ain’t ok. You don’t have to like her but you damn well aught not to monkey with her campaign while talking any kind of game about democracy. Either it’s YOUR party, in which case why do you want their help, or it’s OUR party, and you’d better treat all of us like WE.
Tomorrow, the Democratic Party of Evanston members will vote to endorse candidates.

Unfortunately, the DPOE misrepresented us on the ballot, didn’t tell us, and still has not issued a formal correction.

So we’re doing it ourselves:

I have a whole thesis on the governing ethos of the Times and similar as 'weakly held liberalism' - people immersed in a liberal social context without any genuine belief or principle backing it up, who thus idealize conservatism as authentic and strong.
I honestly think a lot of it is that the NYT crowd really are the 'coastal elites' everyone complains about, so they went to find the Minnesota working class they expected: old, white and racist.

It never occurred to them to look for communities that didn't look like that.

"Environmental Insurrectionist" is a great example of how the right can only learn new words when they're being used to accuse them of crimes and then they only learn their meaning well enough to turn the accusation on their enemies

Fredrick Douglass did not land at “actually John Calhoun is right about the Constitution”
I've said this before, but "america was always fascist" is simply not an effective messaging strategy for fighting an american fascist movement. you should not cede them control of the national identity! that's what they want!
People who say this are clearly speaking aspirationally about a shared American creed they hold dear. “Have you heard of the Trail of Tears?” is not a very helpful response, because they probably have and the priority right now is moral opposition to fascism and not fake-educating each other.

Thesis: ICE is un-American and the Minneapolis protestors are real Americans.

Antithesis: Ackshually ICE is operating in a long American tradition of racist terror.

Synthesis: Minneapolis is now the epicenter of a clash between two distinct but historically grounded American political traditions.

They always want a response. They don’t care if they know otherwise. So I just look at them like they’re stupid and let the silence deflate them.

I maintain a thing that kind of in a tension: nonviolence is a superior strategy for creating change as long as it is an actual choice.

Those who make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable only when violent change becomes an option. It does not happen on its own.

Good advice from Ezra.
The reason rank and file Dems are pissed at their party is because their party doesn't lead in key moments. The good news is it's primary season, and now's when we get to demand better leadership. I recommend everybody adopt 1 or 2 DINOs and dedicate yourself to replacing them with Dems who fight.
DHS spending bill passed 220-207

7 Democrats voted in favor:
Henry Cuellar
Don Davis
Laura Gilles
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez
Jared Golden
Vicente Gonzalez
Tom Suozzi

Massie voted No
Andy Harris didn't vote

Might not have passed if every Democrat voted No, but leadership wasn't whipping them to do so

The notion of charging a black journalist under the KKK Act because he covered a pro-immigrant protest at a white Christian nationalist church is just so cartoonishly goddamned sinister. It also won't go anywhere.

But they're absolutely relishing it.
