there are so many gutting stories, but this one is hitting me extra hard. just imagining wael tarabishi slowly dying without his dad there to care for him because he was jailed by ICE makes me…i don’t have words. this country is disgusting.
Disabled son of ICE detainee dies after 30 days of hospitalization
It had been months since Wael Tarabishi seen his father. The family is calling on ICE to release Maher Tarabishi so he may attend his son's funeral.

CECOT has the name recognition but when the next Dem administration gets in there and brings back the survivors, the EG prison is going to be by far the most shocking of all
And here’s an Omni jet landing in Equatorial Guinea yesterday. This is very likely a third-country removal to a torture prison, the second in a week and the third there overall.

Marco Rubio paid off their dictator using humanitarian funds.

An autopsy found that Geraldo Lunas Campos died from “asphyxia due to neck and torso compression.”

They choked him to death. They strangled him.

Torso compression means they violently pinned him down.

Now they're trying to disappear the two witnesses.

Another ICE murder cover-up.

Inasmuch as every strain of trumpism is a reflection of the man himself, worth remembering that he is a compulsive, insatiable rapist. His happiest years were spent competitively acquiring and assaulting underage and unwilling women; transgressive domination is the only thing that gratifies him
the strangest thing about trumpism as an ideology, in all its strains, is its total rejection of any theory of legitimacy

I agree that electability is a thing, but I do think that most people are worse than useless at judging it and the best solution is to have large, competitive primaries in which everyone votes for whoever they like the most
Obama left office in 2016 with significant approval, and had Biden been the nominee we probably wouldn't be having this discussion. Electability is a thing, and people want to ignore it because it gets in the way of nice dreams about unelectable candidates.
This completely ignores what I originally said about retrospective vs. prospective voters. The three elections mentioned all reflected disappointment in the incumbent party's performance, hence why the challenger won

Moral of the story: let them die.
Two women trained as first responders were abducted by three ICE agents. One of the agents starts seizing. The other two don’t know what to do. The women jump into action and save the agent’s life, only to be re-handcuffed and processed.

The women say they guided agents through the emergency, later raising concerns about medical protocols, weapons safety and accountability.

This is also murder.

Every single Republican member of Congress shares responsibility for this.

Never, ever, ever, ever vote for a Republican.
In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.

He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.

At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.

Wael died on Friday at age 30.

ICE caused his death.

They didn’t get to say goodbye.

You read things like this and you can only hope that when the time comes, if it comes, when it is your community's turn to be tested, that you acquit yourselves half as well.

Something I don’t think polling fully captures is the intensity of unpopularity. “Strongly disapprove” covers a wide range of attitudes. There’s “this sucks” strongly disapprove and there’s “it is now my life mission to destroy all that you stand for at all costs” strongly disapprove.
the incredulous "this is bullshit, are you fucking kidding" tone here is a sign that you have turned someone into a lifelong radical against you and people like you
