Then God said, “And behold, when the fourth seal was opened, there arose four upon the crest of the storm: pipes skirling doom, bellows wheezing famine, strings twanging conquest, drum thundering regret. Power given to afflict the earth with cursed reel forever.”

it is fascinating how american evangelicals have backfilled Christianity into being a machismo cult around a version of jesus who is closer to a god of war or at least like aggressive god of strength instead of like the "no no, i'm gonna save the souls of the people who unjustly killed me" guy
what part of the religion about love of the unworthy transcending even death did you not understand

I got nothing.

Fools and craven sadists have brought the rule of law to its knees in America.

All I can say is that I have faith that better souls, the spirit of decency, the non-morons, will prevail.

My sincerely hopes and prayers go with you.

Yep, rewatching, this is 100% correct.

They disarmed him first, and then 2 seconds later murdered him.
He’s carrying the victim’s gun, having just taken it off him. Can’t see any gun in his hands before he moves in, and the way he moves looks like he’s trying to get something out of victim’s pocket or a holster or something. when the first shot is fired he’s already turned and away

the reason conservatives are so feral about Jay Jones is that they viewed his challenge to Miyares as a referendum on whether you can openly wish death on them after one of their own got murked and it's a referendum they lost decisively
the evidence is how renee good's murder has tanked ICE and how kirk's murder was a wet fart nationally. didn't even matter in the 2025 elections. didn't even stop Jay Jones winning by six!

Operation Paperclip criticism is always so weird. We basically enslaved Nazi scientists for years. What's some better alternative that people imagine here?
1: literally every allied power in europe did this, and the Soviets actually did it the most

2: this is in no way contrary to anyone fighting the nazis, the fact that the allied powers were in a position to capture/accept the surrender of scientists and engineers is *because* they fought the nazis

Finally watched Sinners, whose main message seems to be that Irish people appreciate good music but are not always sensitive to local norms in their desire to join a rollicking party

In fact they do

It was installed with concerted effort by a syncretic online (specifically Twitter) coalition responding to every “Trump will be a dictator that takes a torch to the Constitution” with “I CAN’T FUCKING AFFORD MILK” in all caps
DOES EVERY ELECTED DEMOCRAT HAVE A FUCKING BRAIN PARASITE THAT FORCES THEM TO TALK SOLELY ABOUT AFFORDABILITY. FUCK.
NEW: In this interview, Chuck Schumer describes the "five buckets" Dems think are key to their possibly winning a Senate majority in 2026: housing, "the high price of food [and] food monopolies playing a major role there," electricity, "the high cost of childcare," and health care.

explaining to the median voter that trump sent a late night text to the PM of norway telling him that trump is no considering peace as an option because the nobel prize was not awarded to him and that’s why we must have greenland and imagining their eyes widening as they slowly back away
Also half of my normie friends and colleagues have no idea about Greenland other than that whacky old president is up to his usual shenanigans

We need to talk about this as a lack of civic virtue
the median voter wants no taxes & no debt but still healthcare & pensions, they want clean energy, clean water, cheap beef, & cheap gas, & they want a bruising take-no-prisoners military that embraces lesbians & furries & single moms without threatening anyone's masculinity

My current theory, incidentally, is that on some level, Chappell Roan does not actually want the trans rights situation to improve, because it would interfere with her ability to posture about how good she is for “standing up for us” (which she never does other than lip service)
I hate her in particular because she practically made “I am a warrior for trans rights” her whole identity, then did nothing but tell everyone both sides sucked and there was no real difference.

idk man, probably woulda been smart for the "insurgent campaign" to get the endorsement of the popular retiring incumbent instead of just sneering at it. Good luck in the primary though I guess.
NEW – Kat Abughazaleh is also responding to Schakowsky's planned endorsement of #IL09 candidate Daniel Biss tonight, saying:

"When an insurgent campaign starts breaking through, the establishment reacts. That's what we're seeing here."

Draw more attention to the Schakowsky endorsement of Biss, so more people see it. Brilliant!
