Southern "honor culture" has always been a morally degenerate pile of shit. The greatest mistake this country ever made was not following up the Civil War by imprisoning the South's leaders, confiscating & distributing their property, & building something decent in their place.
"the elite of the antebellum South were degenerate gamblers who financed their lifestyles with industrialized rape and would kill you for pointing this out" is a straightforwardly accurate statement

Slavery isn't complicated. People must never own other people. When they do, it's an orgy of physical, sexual, emotional, and economic violence that poisons every aspect of any society that permits it. And American race-based chattel slavery was the worst of all forms of slavery.
Physically incapable of analyzing politics outside of this insipid frame.

This is your regular reminder that the idea that Christianity is a thing uniform beliefs that everyone within “Western Civilization” believed and agreed on is a fiction that just ignores centuries of Christians killing each other and fighting literal wars over their different beliefs.
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.

ICE using the same ruse that Ted Bundy used to kidnap people should tell you something.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

So, do I have this right? The official Dem response to masked federal agents killing Americans in the streets and abducting people, including children, to put in concentration camps is:

“We need ICE to be more like the rest of the violent, often unaccountable militarized police around the country.”

One example, on an anecdotal basis: you know who I see disproportionately devoting HUNDREDS of hours to practical organizing with local groups to fight fascism?

Parents & relatives of trans kids.

Candidates like Newsom will NEVER get that kind of passionate, priceless work from them.

We don’t need a celebration we need to abolish ICE and get justice for those murdered and for those whose rights have been violated and return our neighbors. Reminder the Roman Colosseum was a propaganda machine that enforced hierarchy and was a distraction from living standards. Stay focused MPLS.

Harvard said no to Trump's abusive demands, went to court, and the govt is left sputtering.

Columbia, Cornell, and Northwestern giving in was a big mistake. If only there were lessons against appeasing fascists.
This is a genuinely huge, sweeping victory today for the University of California—or rather, for us, its faculty, acting through our faculty associations, while the UC itself maintained a strict policy of deer-in-headlights silence.

This has been the coolest part of the last few months, all of these people stopping Kat on the street to just shoot the shit about what’s working and what’s not because they know her from Instagram or the TV. It happens… a lot. They’re usually people who say they don’t vote but now they will.
One person at a time. One tea stop at a time. One vote at a time.

Walks like this not only remind us what we’re fighting for but also how we can represent our communities better.

We’ll be on Devon again today! Hope to see you there 🧡

There is no reforming this. There is only abolition, and then trials.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

I would tell these people how wonderful it is to see your kid become happy and fulfilled after transition but they wouldn’t care. It’s not about protecting our children. It’s about controlling them. Children are possessions to hardcore conservatives, to be broken & trained in the way of their father
This entire 'debate' is so maddening. We have been promised that a groundswell of rushed, dissatisfied detransitioners was about to emerge for nearly a decade.

Not only have they never materialized, but academic research continues to show small numbers, long assessments and miniscule regret rates.
