On that subject, "Southern accent as shorthand for stupid" does a disservice to southerners. There's a complex history around that accent, but it's a cousin to the "let the red states go" mentality that ignores the minority folks living under occupation in their own home states.
Adding "people with accents" to this list.

On that subject, "Southern accent as shorthand for stupid" does a disservice to southerners. There's a complex history around that accent, but it's a cousin to the "let the red states go" mentality that ignores the minority folks living under occupation in their own home states.
They were debating this in the Senate in February 1860, the same calendar year that Davis and his traitor buddies led their states into rebellion against the Union. Five years later, some of those same rebels tried to rejoin that chamber. A decade after that, many did. They then governed together.
Miller's claim was pioneered by none other than Confederate President Jefferson Davis:
"The condition of slavery with us is, in a word, Mr. President, nothing but the form of civil government instituted for a class of people not fit to govern themselves."

it's like SUPER cold for North Carolina today but I went to the farmer's market and on the way back I saw people 10+ years my senior, which is saying something, holding up NO ICE protest signs and I said hey fantastic job it's cold and they said "not as cold as in Minneapolis" blessed people

When I saw this this morning, I could feel a warm pool of depression opening under my feet. To live under armed occupation separates me so far from “the pursuit of happiness” that despair starts to feel easier than effort. I must resist this; too many people depend on me. Stay frosty, everybody.

The soldiers are from the 11th Airborne Division, based at Joint Base Elmendorf--Richardson, one of the Army's premier infantry formations.
