In the #TwinCities #Minneapolis and #StPaul, protesters sing outside hotels that house ICE & Border Patrol:

"It's okay to change your mind. Show us your courage. Leave this behind. It's okay to change your mind. And you can join us, you can join us anytime."

According to Google Translate, the modern Greek word for groundhog is μαρμότα (marmota), therefore a Greek-derived technical term for groundhog-divination would be marmotomancy (μαρμοτομαντεία).

Minnesota Republican lawmakers largely supported federal immigration enforcement in the state, and did not directly criticize the killings of two civilian observers. A few broke ranks by calling for an end to Operation Metro Surge.
Here’s where Minnesota Republicans stand on immigration, Good and Pretti killings
Here's where 112 Minnesota Republicans in the Legislature, governor’s race and Congress stand on immigration, Renee Good and Alex Pretti.

Getting serious about life after Meta. First hurdle: tags and descriptions for shared pictures. FB doesn’t include these with the data bundles you can download, I don’t think.

On that subject, "Southern accent as shorthand for stupid" does a disservice to southerners. There's a complex history around that accent, but it's a cousin to the "let the red states go" mentality that ignores the minority folks living under occupation in their own home states.
Adding "people with accents" to this list.
Things that are still very gross even when you do them to fascists because they reveal what you really think about marginalised groups of people:

(Other things are gross too but this is what I’ve seen people doing consistently)

- sex worker shaming
- misogyny
- homophobia
- fatphobia

They were debating this in the Senate in February 1860, the same calendar year that Davis and his traitor buddies led their states into rebellion against the Union. Five years later, some of those same rebels tried to rejoin that chamber. A decade after that, many did. They then governed together.
Miller's claim was pioneered by none other than Confederate President Jefferson Davis:
"The condition of slavery with us is, in a word, Mr. President, nothing but the form of civil government instituted for a class of people not fit to govern themselves."

We are going to win.

There’s more kids to free from concentration camps. More people to free. Jackbooted Gestapo thugs to kick out of my state on the way to abolition. A fascist government to demolish and rebuild—the land that never had been yet, and yet must be.

But we’re going to win.

My Greenland prediction:
1.) The U.S. won't attack.
2.) It won't attack because it was stopped.
3.) It being stopped will be used to tar people urgent about it being stopped as hysterics

When I saw this this morning, I could feel a warm pool of depression opening under my feet. To live under armed occupation separates me so far from “the pursuit of happiness” that despair starts to feel easier than effort. I must resist this; too many people depend on me. Stay frosty, everybody.

it’d be pretty cool if any of the people elected into positions of power that could possibly stop something like this would actually try to stop something like this

“How to Talk Minnesotan” is intended to be comedic but I recommend it for every autistic transplant, because no one will explain any of this to you, they’ll just get mad at you and you won’t know why. This outright just tells you the unspoken rules and everything makes so much more sense after that
This is light-hearted and doesn't touch on cases of fuckaroundits, but maybe it'll spark joy. Mid 90s local PBS.

It’s the only book I’ve read more than twice. I still have my copy from school. It helped teach me to love reading!
If you are only now learning about THE WESTING GAME, written by Ellen Raskin in 1979 & winner of a Newbery Medal, find it and read it NOW.

It's the best puzzle mystery novel ever, and is illustrated and typeset by Raskin herself (who started as an illustrator and book cover designer)
