I have strongly opposed sending American forces into harm’s way in Venezuela without authorization from Congress. We should not put Americans at risk in this way without careful deliberation among the people’s elected representatives. Wars for regime change can lead to unintended consequences.

I think this definitely hits on something— how much of the Republican project of the last couple of decades seems to be driven by boredom. They want a world war to give them something macho to do, and if they can’t find one they’ll make one
An administration driven by greed, cruelty, and frankly a sort of empty-hearted boredom. The death of innocents so they can beat their chests and line their already fat wallets.
Whatever comes next has to at least look like justice. We cannot just turn the page for the sake of one party’s comfort.
