Democrats in both Iowa and Mississippi last year flipped two seats in the states’ upper chambers, breaking GOP supermajorities. In Mississippi, that means Republicans will no longer have the power to advance constitutional amendments on a party-line vote.
In 2025, Democrats Flipped 21 Percent of GOP-Held Legislative Seats
The party secured strong gains reminiscent of 2017, our annual review of state legislative results shows. They won multiple new seats in New Jersey, Virginia, Iowa, and Mississippi.

These declines are MASSIVE.

And the comparative silence in media coverage is absolutely DAMNING.

“Why are ppl always so afraid of crime?”

THIS is why. When crime goes up, media trips over itself to report it.

Falls to pre-war (!!) levels? Just CRICKETS.
I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

UPDATE: Another Chicago-area church has put up an immigration-themed Nativity scene.

A church member at Urban Village Church sent this one along, where Mary, Joseph and Jesus are gone and replaced with a sign that reads: “Due to ICE activity in our community, the Holy Family is in hiding.”

The US accidentally invaded Mexico on Monday, storming a beach and planting DoD “restricted area” signs claiming the land for “the commander,” triggering a standoff w/ armed Mexican security forces, all because Trump’s government can’t even identify a border on a map

Warning signs appear on Mexican beach declaring area restricted by U.S. as Mexico rejects Trump offer to strike cartels
The signs read in English and Spanish, "Warning: Restricted Area," and had been declared restricted by "the commander."

My personal “Don’t give to the Salvation Army” story:
When I was homeless in 2019, the Salvation Army shelter refused to give me a bed (even though they were available), because I was on immunosuppressant meds and they didn’t want to be responsible or liable if I got more sick or died on premises. They’d rather I die on the street.
It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

Anyways too tired to properly lay out the argument but you get the point: business owners would often rather the firm go under than their workers have a union, it's the same principle here (which op understands I just wanted to lay out it explicitly)

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

Like yeah he 100% has the money to pay more taxes but that's the state taking it away from him he'd rather spend millions on lawyers and campaigns than spend that same money on the working class

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

I think about this a lot in terms of union stuff (chatted with @vickyacab.bsky.social about it recently) companies would rather light any amount of resources on fire than have anyone else be able to have a single morsel of autonomy and control over their capital

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
If you have 8 million to just *give away*, you can afford to pay more tax.
Everybody gets that Bloomberg is the main reason Cuomo is still afloat, right?
