The Senate has voted 60-40 to fund the federal government and end the shutdown with no health care subsidies. The bill now goes to the House, which has been out of session since September.

OSCAR ISAAC, on whether he'd return to "Star Wars":

".. Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney. But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great."

The pardons are primarily symbolic: No one on the list has been charged with federal crimes, and Trump can't pardon those facing state charges in GA, AZ, NV and WI.

But it's another effort by Trump to recast the history of his bid to seize a second term in 2020. www.politico.com/news/2025/11...

Senate Dems cave with no guarantees

*senate dems cave because any further holdout would encourage GOP senators to kill the filibuster which moderate Dems want to keep because it shields them from passing popular progressive legislation when Dems are in power*
getting two pinky swears from Republicans, including one that they will merely follow the law, is laughably thin gruel

Bernie Sanders warns the Democrats who are thinking about betraying their base and caving on this pathetic deal that they should go home and talk to their constituents.

Again, I think they've already thought about how their constituents will feel about this and responded accordingly.
Or maybe Senate Democrats are aware of how pissed off voters will be?

This alleged deal guarantees a BILLION dollars in spending for security and police at the Capitol, and then a pinky promise to hold a vote on ACA subsidies that will surely lose.

Not sure a billion will even be enough but OK.

I’ve voted 7 times to reopen the government in a way that holds Trump accountable for his lawlessness and prevents a health care crisis.

I’m prepared to work toward a compromise, but this “deal” before us does not come close to meeting those terms. Voting NO.

See, this is why I don't watch any of these talking mouthpiece shows. What power does Jeffries have to reopen govt? He can't call a House vote. He can't even call them into session.

She needs to ask that question to the GOP. Repeatedly. Until she turns blue in the face.
WELKER: Can you guarantee you will reopen the government before Thanksgiving?

"More than enough" Senate Democratic Caucus members to pass shutdown deal led by Shaheen, King and Hassan, source familiar with deal says

- CR through Jan. 30
- ACA bill vote on bill of Dems' choosing in December
- Minibus has RIF reversals and "protections" against them in future

So Democrats get:

1. A CR that will prevent the GOP from facing the wrath of Americans for a shutdown over the holidays

2. A coupon for one (1) meaningless ACA vote that will fail

3. An end to the illegal RIF/SNAP moves that are already before the courts

Those all seem like wins for the GOP.
