the people in minneapolis & surrounding twin cities areas who have been demonstrating & protesting (also just in general) have been showing a pretty impressive amount of restraint with everything going on right now here.

I freely admit I don't know a lot about multi-jurisdictional issues in criminal investigations, but this is bullshit, right? There is a very real likelihood that state laws were broken, and the state has the right to investigate that, right?

"The guy, I'm telling him like, 'Please step off the school grounds,' and this dude comes up and bumps into me and then tells me that I pushed him, and he's trying to push me, and he knocked me down," said a school official, who spoke to MPR News on condition of anonymity. text: "They don't care. They're just animals," the official added. "T've never seen people behave like this." The school leader said armed officers with apparent Border Patrol insignia on their uniforms arrived at the school in several SUV vehicles during dismissal on Wednesday afternoon. They broke out the window of a vehicle. "There's a car that got hit. I don't know how it got hit. They broke out the window," the school official said. "Then different Neighborhood Watch, people, everybody, people, the staff in the school came out. And then they started coming on the property of the school and pushing people and tackling people and shooting pepper spray and pepper balls. And they handcuffed two of our employees."

I'm not saying it did any material good for me to call Klobuchar's office and tell her to A) demand that ICE leave our city, B) demand that this murderer be prosecuted, and C) stand up for her constituents in a meaningful way for once in her career, but I'm also not saying I wouldn't recommend it

A Better DFL condemns the extrajudicial killing of a legal observer that happened in Minneapolis this morning. Constitutional observers are a vital part of preserving the legal rights of our immigrant neighbors in Minneapolis, and this killing must be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We mourn the loss of our neighbor taken from us by this violence, and stand with those impacted by the terror and fear ICE seeks to sow in our communities. Many of us grew up learning about the horrors of Nazi Germany - some of us may have experienced them firsthand. We know through the stories told by victims and survivors alike that while they started attacking one class of people, it did not stop there. When we say “never again,” we mean it - we must be a bulwark against these evil and illegal acts in our communities and we agree with Mayor Frey that “ICE needs to get the fuck out of our city.” Further, we call on our elected leaders who have cast votes and spoken in support of ICE and legislation such as the Laken Riley act to immediately advocate for a full repeal of funding for ICE and to ensure those who have perpetrated such crimes against humanity are held accountable with the full effect of the law.
