Do you know how bad you have to fuck up to radicalize St. Cloud?
A crowd of hundreds gathered at a St. Cloud strip mall parking lot to observe more than two dozen ICE officers near some Somali-owned businesses.

I have never understood rural Minnesota’s hate for the Twin Cities. A huge percentage of the Twin Cities population is people who grew up in rural or exurban MN. They are hating their own sons, daughters, brothers & sisters — figuratively and literally.

Walking briskly — a pace of about 3 to 4.5 mph — for an extra five minutes every day was linked to an estimated 10 percent fewer deaths in the follow-up period — an average of 8.2 years, a new study found.
Adding even a 5-minute walk to your daily activity may help boost longevity
Using activity tracker data, researchers found that just a bit more exercise could save one in 10 people from an earlier death.

my studio used to be on the corner of 31st and Cedar and I moved my desk from the window to the opposite wall because I witnessed car accidents so frequently that I was convinced a car would drive through the wall one day.

this is also amazing because the neighborhoods that Cedar goes through have been begging the county for traffic calming for years. commuters use it like a freeway to get across the city and the neighbors of it suffer the consequences.
Some in South Minneapolis have created what they call “filter blockades” on Cedar Ave. A handout says the roundabout like blockade is meant to bring neighbors together to strategize against ICE while also identifying traffic coming into the area.

If the Park Police aren’t going to help enforce the rules that the Park Board enacts, then maybe we don’t need a separate police force for parks? I mean they drive up and down the street I live on quite a bit (a Parkway where their lobbyist also lives) but I think we’d be ok without that service.
This morning, federal agents staged at the Powderhorn Park Recreation Center lot and began to throw chemical irritants at observers. They also kidnapped an observer. Our parks are meant for our children, youth, and neighbors. They should never be militarized zones meant to separate families. 1/

It's hard to overstate how NORMAL it was to sexualize teen girls when I was growing up.

"Jailbait" jokes were everywhere, I was constantly sexually harassed by men in cars when walking to school in 6th grade.

Epstein is of an cohort where it was GENERALLY maybe a little edgy but not extreme.
I need people to understand that it’s not just Epstein, it’s the entire rape culture that existed before and after him at every socioeconomic level. That’s why Epstein, who I’ve never thought was particularly smart or interesting, was able to pull this all off—he recognized how abuse functions

It is both impressive & *absurd* how much money average middle class Minnesotans are scrounging together to pay our neighbors’ rent so they aren’t made homeless during a federal occupation (in winter) where they can’t work & need to shelter in place to stay safe from abduction and abuse.
I think if regular folks are donating hundreds of dollars to mutual aid in the span of a few weeks, then landlords could maybe have a heart and not evict vulnerable families in this time of extraordinary crisis
