I had to share. Found this poem about St. Paul, Minnesota ice from June Jordan in her 1980 "From America" poem from her book of poems, Passion. This was in my copy of "Directed by Desire" collected poems of June Jordan.

"Criticisms of AI must include guidance for responsible engagement with it, not just exhortations to avoid it" good lord, I am so tired of these pieces that are the "sensible AI guy" stance that mostly comes down to "AI is here to stay and I am ready to lick the boot, begrudgingly"

jack asked if i would sketch up a poster to tell people in nearby neighborhoods about the partnership between flock and ring, and this is what i came up with. it can be printed on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

it is -10 here today. I was supposed to go do a volunteer shift standing outside loading groceries into people’s cars to deliver to families stuck at home. just got a call not to come in because they have too many volunteers already. if you were wondering if the cold would stop us.

i simply don't think we need ICE and do not care how someone showed up in whatever place they happen to live.

ICE is violent. Shooting bystanders is violent. Tearing people out of their cars is violent. Going door-to-door to rip apart families is violent.

The way to restore peace is get ICE the fuck out of our communities

As protests grow over violent ICE enforcement actions in Minneapolis, the president said he could invoke a centuries-old law that would give him sweeping powers to deploy the military in U.S. cities.
Trump threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act (again). What is it?

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

what this should make clear to everyone in this country is that it does not matter who you are, there's no "it could never happen to me"

you can be a white woman who drives around with stuffed animals in her car, and they will still kill you in cold blood and call you a domestic terrorist
The murdered woman's glove compartment is filled with stuffed animals.

my hot take is that I don't think it's this website specifically that's toxic. the Circumstances are toxic and nobody really knows what to do about it so they come online and scream. and if I may offer an alternative: actually going outside and screaming feels better.

Bombing another country and kidnapping its leader would also be wrong with Congressional approval. The outrage, and call for impeachment, should be over the evil and illegal outcome not merely the failure to follow the prescribed process.

The winning argument for Dem leaders could be "they want to fear monger about trans people and trans healthcare because they don't want to talk about why your life isn't as good as it could be and have no plan to make it better" — except that most Dem politicians also have no plan to make it better.
