i’m serious. if you want to fuck over the whole ai business model, support the library of congress. stealing all the books, poems, art, film… every creative thing supposedly copyright protected feeding it to ai for profit? turns out that’s not fair use.

I cannot wrap my head around how cruel and destructive this is.

This is what comes of years of rhetoric demonizing and blaming the unhoused on the part of politicians (including big city Democrats) instead of seeing them as neighbors who need help
This is far worse than anyone expected.

Trump's HUD plan would cut *two-thirds* of permanent housing and push as many as 170,000 formerly homeless people back onto the street—redirecting funds to work mandates, forced treatment, and encampment sweeps.

All as mass internment camps are being built.

My novel DEATH OF THE AUTHOR is a Time Magazine “Must-Read Book of the 2025”, 🥰.

I’m pleased that they at least said the genre is “hard to pin down” (that’s an understatement because the novel contains multitudes).

Submission Grinder is one of the best tools for writers out there.

and what ICE is doing is not "immigration enforcement"
DOGE was not a "cost-cutting measure," the assault on universities was not a "fight against anti-semitism," and the extra-judicial murder spree sure as shit is not an "anti-drug campaign."

You do not have to just take their word for everything.

This article is required reading.

When I was writing my space opera trilogy a few years ago, I decided never to use the word "race" to refer to alien species. I used "species," "peoples," "civilizations," etc.

I've also tried to stop saying "human race" in casual conversation.
The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

also, schumer wasn’t one of the ones that folded. so, i take back what i said.

8 Senate Dems made this happen. None of them are up for re-election and two of them are retiring.

So instead of bothering to do anything politically, picket their houses, follow them in the streets, call them rude names, refuse them service, anything that makes them regret what they've done.
Senate Dems are out here posting noise like "omg the Senate GOP just voted against healthcare subsidies and are trying to sneak a bunch of terrible shit into the funding bill" — and people are flooding their mentions with "bitch, please, GTFOH"

Never seen such a dramatic swing in political momentum
