It's weird as hell hearing an organic harry potter reference in this, the year of Luigi 2025.
Like with Kanye, Richard Dawkins, R Kelly, Jimmy Savile, and Drake, after enough time a person stops being "famous ____ who is a piece of shit" and "piece of shit who used to be a famous ____."

This concentration camp was opened at Fort Bliss, the site of a former Japanese internment camp.
It also cost over $1B in private contracts to build in a place meant to hold 1000 people. So, basically it’s a fascist grift.

Wow, that’s crazy. Republicans lied and are screwing you over? Who could have seen that coming?
NEWS: Senate Republicans are threatening to block the extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies—unless Democrats agree to tougher abortion restrictions.
Republicans demand tougher abortion restrictions to extend Obamacare funds
Democrats say that’s a nonstarter, arguing there are already limits on abortion access. The dispute could torpedo a deal, leading to higher health insurance premiums for millions.

so, today I got the surgery center where I got my deviated septum fixed to send me an itemized bill so I could submit to my FSA for reimbursement
my out of pocket cost: $473
what my insurance paid: $4258
what they tried to charge my insurance (not a misprint): $173692

I was at an event yesterday where Rand Paul spoke via video and talked about how great it was to send ACA money "directly to the people" so that they could work collectively to get better deals on health care.

It gets worse from there. It‘s entirely possible, perhaps even likely, that I’ll see the 19th Amendment and access to birth control eliminated in my lifetime. And I don’t think there’s anything we can do. No one in power seems to really care.

part of the rage is that Ds seem to be lying about why they did this as well as lying about which senators wanted this.
like, the reasons for doing it are contradictory and nonsensical; claiming they won something on health care when they didn't; saying they won things that were already law.

This is obscene. This is fucking monstrous.
Have a chronic illness that has been relatively under control for about 20 years. I'm going to lose insurance because the premium is going up to 1600/month. Talked to 2 case managers, both did research and said there will be no affordable options for me. I have no other options.

Dems are very proud of themselves for their “savvy” willingness to tell their base to simmer down and let the experts work. What they don’t seem to understand is the intangible, but very real, damage that does to the enthusiasm of their voters, who feel abandoned. And then the “experts” fail!
The Dem base wants the shutdown to continue because it’s the only time we’ve felt like our electeds were representing us: trying to squeeze the GOP instead of squeezing us to accept concessions; directing their anger at the Republicans instead of at their own voters for wanting them to resist

I thought my new health insurance premium was going to be $350 per month until I got this letter informing me that it would be $1,228.28 PER MONTH. I CURRENTLY PAY $50. Is my math mathing? Is that.... a 2,356.42% increase?
2256.42%????
