Since October, hundreds of judges have ruled more than 4,400 times that the Trump administration is detaining immigrants unlawfully. Despite those rulings, the administration continued jailing people indefinitely, a Reuters review of court records found reut.rs/40gfILP

UCLA said no to Trump's abusive demands, went to court, and the govt is backing off.

Harvard said no to Trump's abusive demands, went to court, and the govt is left sputtering.

Columbia, Cornell, and Northwestern giving in was a big mistake. If only there were lessons against appeasing fascists.
This is a genuinely huge, sweeping victory today for the University of California—or rather, for us, its faculty, acting through our faculty associations, while the UC itself maintained a strict policy of deer-in-headlights silence.

The Trump admin has given up its appeal of a powerful injunction:

Some of the defendants in the Prairieland case apparently never set foot anywhere near the protest in question.

Just as authorities sought to crush the #StopCopCity movement by randomly indicting people on baseless charges, here they aim to scare people out of acting in solidarity with immigrants.

Pay attention to the Prairieland case.

By saddling the defendants with indiscriminate charges, holding them without bail, and isolating them from lawyers and the public, prosecutors are attempting to terrorize them into signing guilty pleas in order to set a precedent criminalizing dissent itself.

in the course of reporting my book i got to go through so many old anarchist/anti-fascist zines and they are such remarkable, beautiful documents

this resource rules so hard!
Much of my youth revolved around the website ZineLibrary. It went down around Occupy in a massive loss for a movement whose ideas and knowledge mostly doesn't circulate online but in person.

Anyway I've put it back online with a *thousand* anarchist zines:

Dem leadership will spend more in primaries against candidates like this than against Republicans in the general election. This only works if it's against a handful of candidates. If real progressive Dems ran everywhere it would probably overwhelm their ability to keep these people out.
Worth noting: literally any US born politician could get some of that Mamdani glow by siding with people over billionaires every single time.

Just love your neighbors more than money and fight for them relentlessly!

(And have years of coalition building and great communication skills, etc.)
If Mamdani was native born he would be the 2028 front runner right now, practicality be damned

IF the U.S. had an opposition party, these types of voters could be mobilized in the short term and won over for the long term.

I actually find it hard to parse the meaning of "reactionary centrist" writing. The vibe is easy: both-sidesing slavery by eliding any moral content and reducing it to a debating point.
Physically incapable of analyzing politics outside of this insipid frame.
